... will not be going to an advocate of one portion of the game. If you are "The Scout CPM", "The Tank CPM", "The Infantry CPM", or any other sort of variant, then you are what is wrong with this game. Not one person on these forums is willing to compromise on their own playstyle, instantly shooting down any ideas that may slightly shift the current meta, quickly escalating to name calling and threats.
I know the voting system is going to boil down into a popularity contest to see who can farm more likes by stating the obvious, but I just wanted to throw my two cents in there. If you have tunnel vision for one game aspect, then I do not want you, and your appointment to CPM will only be detrimental to the game. Quite honestly, I don't think the CPM is as powerful as people make them out to be, and your advocating for one aspect would be a promise that, by design, you probably won't be able to keep.
My view on how people are running for CPM1

Soraya Xel wrote:The important thing about having a "platform" as a CPM candidate, is to demonstrate your view of what is/isn't wrong with the game, and where CCP's focus should be, in the event you get a chance to push for one way or the other. It is both a display of competency and an indication that you see the same issues as the voter in question does. I have opinions on balance, but I didn't feel they were worth making a dramatic point of, because I'm focused on the overall game. How to make it suck less for everyone. But sure, the CPM can't do as much as some people might imagine, but indicating what you would do demonstrates how you represent the people who choose to vote for you. Your platform should be neutrality, nothing less. The devs will decide the patch of the game, the CPM (as I see it) are more of a control group to say "That's great", or "You should kill yourselves for coming up with that".
Everyone, of course, has their opinions, but saying that you are "going to fix the tank problem" (as an example) is an outright lie, and that person running for CPM is getting in the way of the people that actually should be in there.

Pretty much every political election in the history of elections. It is going to take a while for the console crowd to get used to have people represent them to the developers. Most are used to going to forums or YouTube writing a snide, one line comment to troll. Few of us have passion for the game and evenless have respect for the people playing and developing it. I hate to be so cynical but there seems to be little evidence otherwise. I don't see that statement as cynical, rather the sad truth.

My view on how people are running for CPM1 You make a good point, but there are not a lot of Generalists in DUST. How many people do you know, aside from me, who have played almost every role? We might have to settle for people with an ability to see things from another personGÇÖs point of view. Ok, so some days it seems like there are not a lot of them in DUST either, but I know there are a few around. There's not a lot of spots in the CPM. I'm sure that we can get a handful of these generalists interested in the position, or at least those willing to branch out of their playstyle and see if the grass really is that much greener.
The post was less of "Unless you've done everything proficiently, don't run", and more of "if you are only interested in furthering your playstyle, stay out".
