Let's put it this way - If you thought the Dust grind was bad, you're taking a backwards step towards what you want with PS2 (unless you have money).
I'm more then willing to hand over money to a game developer that builds a solid product. Probably why even with expendable income i have hesitated to invest anything more into DUST.
Gaming "especially console" is one of the cheapest recreations that exist as human beings, for time vs RL money invested at least. Handing over some expendable income to insure a product we are passionate, enjoy or support wholehartedly is something every satisfied customer would do, many seeing their money contribution or what they got out of it for different reasons worth it.
Planetside 2 built their core mechanics first then started to worry about the content addition and how the 3 faction storylines will have some kind of player felt "impact" on the game experience. DUST had all the privledge of the same development time near, an even lengthier beta process to test the product. Server infrastructure, and a decade of lore and story to fall back on... and thats what they did. You can tell this by them completely throwing out the aiming system when they officially launched DUST and still subjecting us to this horrid system. I'm fine supporting CCP and handing over money, But hearing people say "CCP has a hard job" is BS. They created THEMSELFS alot of the problems we have right now due to under performing fixes to larger issues they refused to acknowledge. This game is like 2 years in development and if we plugged in the game shown at fan fest over a year ago with Skirmish 1.0 most players would say this game has taken huge steps backwards for no significant gains.
That is why people laugh when someone spends money on this game, not because someone is willing to. Or that anyone is willing to work for months and months towards an end game. (No one wants to beat every video game in a few days, or even weeks, or for me? months.) |
