Do they need to apply any critical thinking at all? It's so much easier to gloss over forum posts without digesting the serious discussions. Use IRC as a backup because the people visiting there are tech-savvy and have no ulterior motives, ever.

That was nonsense. And it was just an example. All proto av killed a fully fitted tank in 3 or 4 hits. Unless it was armor. Then 4 or 5. You made claims then immediately abandon them for irrelevent attacks. Which is really funny because you can't place top 5 in fw when most of the team is Baddies. :) So funny when you send me mail complimenting me for dunking on the enemy team and i didnt even know you were in the battle. That statement is false. Solo in several instances I unloaded four iFG shots (prof 4 and one complex damage mod) into the forward and/or top armor of Gunlogis at mid/close range and not kill them. In one Uprising Battle I got up on the monkey bars behind an armor tank near my redline. I pounded on him the entire time he retreated back to his own side, he even drove right under me. Thanks to my reload his reps provided him enough just enough health to reach cover in his redline.
The issues of tanking infantry AV has always been a muddy topic. If it was a new player idling or just caught in a bad situation my iFG always killed them with three shots. It it was a properly fit tank with an experienced TC then solo tanking my DPS was easy.

That's bullshit. You weren't doing it right if you couldn't bring down a tank by yourself without reloading. I have been two-shotted by the proto breach forge while I was in my highest EHP fit with a heavy and light azeotropic shield extender and three stacked passive resistance amplifiers. And I can swear he wasn't on my ass because I backed up into my redline and over the ridge I was on. But his second shot hit me because he was on the god damn tower on Manus Peak! As vehicles started getting faster since sometime in Chrome I gave up using anything other than Assault Forge guns. LAV drivers were street pizza-ing me and others with greater ease. Because of that my experience with breach FGs is very limited. It wouldn't surprise if someone had a 2x CDM on an Advanced DS (Amarr Basic Heavy Frame) doing game breaking damage.
Regardless my observations on the iFG stand. I used them enough to know solo damage or team, especially when in a squad with buddies throwing AV grenades. FG/HAV balance has never been a simple topic at all in Uprising with one exception. At the very 1.0 start (pre-emergency Vehicle HP buffs) which was more or less the exact opposite of what we have now. The irony is delicious.

Gunnlogis died to 3 hits from a iaf. Plain and simple. Yet my observations say the correct answer is "maybe."

That alone should tell you av was OP. It was too risky to use a tank so we all freaking STOPPED. Not every one stopped. Unless you are counting Gunlogis. Although I did see at least two while visiting the Asia server this Winter. There were people running armor tanks thanks to the bugged rapper bonus. Those ate up my iFG DPS easily, shortly before 1.7 I had one tank my iFG and two blueberry SLs while making a quick escape. New map with good cover, otherwise we might have gotten him.
BTW a bunch of disenfranchised people went Logi LAV. Terri-bad HMG, go LLAV. Your shotgun can't kill a fly, go LLAV. Tired of expensive no-WP Dropshops, go LLAV. My favorite...
Tired of getting stomped, go LLAV.

Several people with Skill Points sunk into Swarm launchers and/or Forge Guns had concerns and supported Dropship buffs. Even parts (all?) of the CPM were (are still?) in favor of increasing the hit points Fall/Winter. It was one of my concerns right there with new Tank Commanders and the raw deal they were getting from my iFG.
My current position is Dropships need a steep resistance to Hybrid-Rail Damage outside around 100 meters range.
Right now Infantry AV is junk. You need to ask yourself if that really is the best way to make Dropships a more viable game option.
