Everything Dies wrote:As someone who has only been playing for about eight months or so and has never touched EVE, I'm actually curious to learn more about this sort of stuff. Is there somewhere that offers a bit more insight?
For example, I've heard the name "Imperfects" spoken of in hushed terms (I understand that there's a newer/remade version existing now) but what made them so great? Were they truly the "best" corp in Dust? Or when I look at the top corporations (in terms of kills) and see names like Betamax, Ill Omens, etc.; who were these guys? Where'd they go?
Also, is there some way of following which corporations are joining/leaving alliances? I stumbled into the war room for the first time right about the time of the EoN/FEC war, so that should tell you how much I've missed. I honestly wished I had given this game more of a chance back when I joined the beta, but I'm glad I made the decision to come back and give FPS games (well, this one) a try.
Timeline of PC as far as im concerned
Day 1 massive land grab by every corp imaginable with Cronos. comming out with a massive amount of districts including all of planet fight club. Eon and orion empire fight over tartaven and we start evicting everyone we can to establish at the time are small 900 man alliance eon. Orion empire is wiped out in quick order with the help of imps. Before we ever settle in we start being attacked by cronos in the 1st true war of pc. We trade wins back and forth for about 2 or 3 weeks before we start to get the upper hand. After a while cronos corps start falling basically all but si and gac stopped attacking. After that much fighting we got better at pc and started branching from tartaven into neighboring systems. Shortly after our expansion we went to war vs league of infamy and promtly crushed them in 6 days despite at times us being branded the underdog or the possible loser. After that we endured a time of peace where we farmed alot of isk with no major force to oppose us. With our corp wallets overflowing we generated alot of hate on the forums and the direct result culminated in the eon vs fec war where thee entire community cordinated against us in over 100 attacks the 1st day. This resulted in about 10 days of fighting after which most eon decided to leave to other games or retire from pc.

0) CRONOS picked a minor timezone to alliance lock down, the majority of Dust got a bit upset. At this point it was a king's gambit to even enter PC as everyone else was as good as allied against CRONOS before it started. Kane Spero did a really nice backroom play in getting everyone to finally join the fight against CRONOS. Imperfects and EON had a special friends with benefits thing going from day one, with a really nice planning including cultural warfare.
1) *confidential*
2) CRONOS Established the most menacing economic empire in MH which was clone-stable even if the win-loss rate was 1 kill for 4 of our deaths. 80 districts held after pushing out everyone in the empire, including Hellstorm et co.
3) EON roflstomped Orion with Imperfects and gained good momentum to go against CRONOS.
4) CRONOS morale backbone split against Imperfects and EON after a couple weeks. Economy didn't matter anymore.
5) SI donated districts off and retired from PC since nobody bothered to launch attacks after the weeks of timer fest.
6) Imperfects retired victorious; dodged the fight with EON in diplomatic grace.
7) EON won Dust, or possibly a tie between Imps & EON.
I personally had the time of my life, tried to hop in to help with morale at some point but honestly I should have noticed the untergang way earlier & gotten a propaganda thing going. EON was strong on the forum warfare. I think the PC mechanics got tested and fine tuned on the fly, but a remake of the whole thing would probably be a good idea still.
gg
For the record there was no formal agreement with Imps it was more of the enemy of my enemy is my friend senario. They eventually ended up attacking us as well at one time. I dont know why they didnt press the attacks maybe they saw it as more trouble than it was worth. |
