Aspects of Closed Beta I miss
- Old Manus Peak map, minus the sniper mountain - Skirmish 1.0 - Crater Lake map (skirmish 1.0) - Bunker style Large Installations - Small turret installations - Camera Sights on guns - Non-lock-on Swarm Launchers (minus lack of friendly fire) - Racially Themed Dropsuits - HUD Bobbing - Lots of snow - Colored suits paid for with Aurum - Null cannons that can be hacked from any direction - Where-ever the hell the 'Web Generator' went - The kickass warbarge time
Plus a few other things I probably can't remember right now...

Dude I remember when Advanced/Proto gear scaled in HP. So a Proto had more base HP than an Advanced on top of having more slots. Then they nerfed that, which was a good thing and it actually worked because there weren't any suit bonuses at the time. The way you fit your suit actually determined your playstyle.
Now we have these suit bonuses, which - again - isn't necessarily a bad thing besides the fact that a lot of them don't complement the suit (shield recharge on gallente assault) or outright contradict it's intended playstyle (passive armor repair on caldari logi).
That and slower strafe speeds - which I know a lot of people will argue is a bad thing but my thinking is: If you don't want a twitch shooter, why have ridiculously fast strafe dancing?

Don't tell them, they'll "fix" it.

Hard-coded to the Skirmish 1.0 game-mode, to my knowledge. Albeit it would have been amazing what with interchangeable (large) sockets, something we don't see in Ashland, Manus Peak and... well, honestly we have more maps without interchangeable large sockets than maps that do...

Everything about Craterlake and Skirmish 1.0 is likely missed by most vets I would imagine though, and that is with good reason.
Made a lot more sense than current skirmish mechanics. Two MCCs shooting at one another for reasons, everyone races to get these conveniently placed missile launchers left there by whatever third-party entity owned the district before these two corporations came along.
Or, worse yet, defender having to get the null cannons anyway despite owning the district. That's a fun one.

When AV/vehicles were last properly balanced (E3 build) ie. proto AV could solo adv vehicles (and I don't mean just HAVs) but it was a challange. RESTOCKING ! not this 'bulk buying' we have now !
Most of all I miss the sense of community ... while it was still invite only there was a spirit of playing for the bettering of the game, where as ever since the gates were opened (far too early I might add), it's devolved into exploiting every imbalance or loophole and keeping it quiet as long as you can so your little numbers on the leaderboard are better than someone else's :-/
Oh my **** the restocking
I ***** about that everytime I open up the fitting screen lately. Having to restock each and every little thing one by one just to get a consistent fitting because I use those modules on multiple suits? Wonder who's gloriously dumb idea it was to remove the "Restock Entire Fitting to 'x'" option.

Forlorn Destrier wrote:Cat Merc wrote:Dust 514: Better in Closed Beta than in actual releaseGäó You clearly don't remember closed beta like I do. Player since May 2012 here, from when you couldn't see through the SMG sites at all (it was a white screen totally opaque), when you could stand 5 meters from a target, neither of you moving and neither could kill each other or scratch shields due to no hit detection, etc. It was much worse, and the whippersnappers here don't know how far the game has come. The other vets, like Aeon, only remember the positive, and not the negative.
Oh, I remember the negatives full and well. Invincible Marauders, unkillable scouts, Heavies with no mass, swarm launchers that would blow the bejeezus out of everything -but- the user, that one missile turret at the top of the Biomass outpost that would wreck ass on everything because missiles had infinite range and the only way to hack it was to get a dropship up there.
I also remember dropship smashing because there was no collision damage, as well as the first instances of 'tower sniping' and dropships that had small missile turrets being the most OP thing in the game. Assault Rifles having perfect accuracy/damage up to 100m or more.
Trust me, I remember a lot of the negatives; I just prefer to remember the cool stuff that was actually better than what we currently have.
