If you do take this road. In all honesty if I could go back I'd go back to being Logistics, I honestly do miss my squad getting excited because there was a dedicated logi around.

then you get those back to back matches with red line rail tanks... its good if you don't have to fight with them. AV is manage-able if you know your limits and have some luck.

Save a chunk of dat SP for 2.0 whenever it comes around(I'd hope somewhere this Spring). Scouts are getting a buff SoonGäó. Hopefully racial scouts and heavies(the HMG is back to being badass). There would have to be focus on other roles since the Assaults and Logi are almost done(AR and it's variants need a slight buff to speed while the Logis need to lose some of their slaying capability).

just avoid swarms like the plague and tanks current state do not require any skills to pawn almost everything and with all the uproar either one could be about to change.

How about heavies? I miss them from the pre-super nerf days, there was nothing quite like carving squads up with the old six kin!
I miss the scout shotty days too, made a lot of isk with my dragonfly/dren combo for the waaay overpriced tanks. Maybe I will just hit up some core skills and wait for 2.0 |

hmg's are killer in cqc now and assault forges are god vs the tank spam nowadays.

HMGs were hot-fixed right after 1.7 and alll the cool kids say they rock now. Treat them like a chain gun on a chubby fat suit and it should work.
As for vehicles the serious answer is HAVs, the other vehicle options are only for people who strongly feel drawn to them.
My advice is exactly as Kirk and Roy's. Wait. 1.7 is basically another version of beta and anything can happen. What can appear to be a rational decision now could end up being a terrible choice this spring/summer. If you absolutely must spend SP find a weapon that really compliments your gun-game and proto it along with suit fundamental skills (including core like what LGG suggests).
