How it went down, I entered a match right at the end. I ran towards the action looking for an easy kill. I spot a dude on a roof and spool up my charge sniper. I shot 1 round into the base of the tower accidentally, it didn't hit anyone. I line on the rooftop guy and bam, one shot him. He was in a scout suit.
CSR does 321.86 base I have 4 complex light damage mods +10% each My sniper proficiency is level 5 +3% * 5 points
My calculations put me at 481 alpha.
2 shots would register at more than 505 1 shot should not be higher than around 481 right?
Is the stacking penalty broken?

did you account for the +/- 10% bonus to shields or armor. if they had more then one or the other you'll do more or less damage based on which your weapons does more to. I think the sniper does more to armor so if it was a gallente scout with a plate on you might of done some extra unaccounted damage.

I think your calculations are correct, but I'm pretty sure that damage dealt considers the damage bonus/reduction vs. shields/armor. The sniper rifle has a -10% penalty to shield and a 10% bonus to armor, which could account for the number you are getting.
As an example, say the scout has 210 shield and 100 armor. To remove its 210 shield, 233HP of dmg points would be subtracted from your alpha damage (233*.9=2100HP), leaving you with 248HP of dmg points left to apply to armor. This gets a bonus of 10%, so your total damage dealt to armor would be 272HP. Add the 233HP of shield dmg and you get 505HP. |

dude i've taken close to or perhaps over 1000 damage from a charge sniper before.

Your original math is right, Sana. There isn't a "body shot modifier." Headshot gets a bonus, everything else is the same.

Arm and Leg shots got a Penalty Head and back get a bonus.

in matches when I only shot 1 person and only have used 1 round, my "damage done" will read 489 hp...
Charge Rifle-4 complex damage and 1 enhanced damage with 5 prof for the other thing.....
every time...have done it more than once...always 489 hp......

I think people got this impression from the built-in weapon type damage modifiers. They'd use an armor bonus weapon and think the 90% efficiency against a target with shields up was based on which part of the body they were aiming at.
From all the testing I've done, there is only a bonus to headshots. All other shots do "normal" damage.
I can freely admit to being wrong, though. I haven't tested it since CCP reworked which weapons got which shield/armor damage profile.

you are welcome to do the math and get back to me..... Dude... Anything past 3 Complex damage modifiers is totally useless. The sacking reduces the fourth complex damage modifier to less than 3%.

and "Sniper B" has 4 damage mods and 1 enhanced to get 489 hp...
then there is a difference to "Target A" who has 485 total defenses.....
right...?

Anyone ever consider that some of that damage was from damaging turrets/vehicles or maybe he was shooting someone and they actually lived?

This is true, which is why some snipers are trying to max out their damage potential. 3% is still equal to a proficiency level.

ok, I did the testing back before 1.6 and their was no penalty to using mods, and since the hit detection was so bad after 1.6 I stopped using my sniper fit.
It seams that people are saying that their are now penalty's for stacking mods, I know about the recent sheild recharge penalty, but did not know about any other.
Could someone please provide a link or list what the penalty's are for which mods.

did "968 damage dealt" with my suit set up as above...
so 489 for a body shot and 968 headshot.....for me anyways...

it was WAY higher than I thought it would be....was glad it dawned on me before I let the 2nd bullet fly that I had 1 for 1...
Minmatar Medium mk.0 with 4 complex Damage mods and 1 Enhanced Damage Mod w/ 5 prof.....
only reason I have for not just using 5 complex is I think 1 enhanced would be better due to a 5th stacking penalty...
