i still think the best solution is to put new players in a controlled environment with no other players in it. then instruct the new players to complete certain tasks by following a bot around a map.
this way they get to see what it is theyre about to learn and then can perform the action for themselves. i'd go through literally everything, from fitting suits and vehicles, basic combat controls, vehicle controls, equipment usage, to explaining game modes, how to hack and counter hack objectives, reviving players to avoid getting cloned out, how weapon profiles work vs armor and shield resistances.
their should be obstical courses for vehicles to learn the controls and a firing range that literally has you fire every weapon in the game against bots.
all that stuff is what should make up the "academy" that new players should be placed in when they first start.
plenty of fps do it that way... Tribes, Unreal Tournament, Call of Duty, Halo. its like an industry standard these days, and ccp somehow thinks theyre either exempt or too good to follow established industry practices. |

when has not being ready stopped you from pushing stuff out the door? You gave us FW without team deploy or the ability to select districts to attack or defend, and hell, the game itself wasnt even ready but you released it anyways. why not do it with PvE and just release it? at least we'd have it, which at this point is better than not having it and being stuck with the current affairs.
plus, having PvE now gives new players something to do other than get stomped for 6 months straight while trying to figure the game out.
