I mean they're aparently supposed to be one of the best hand to hand combat specialist in New Eden, even have a bonus for it, but their base melee damage is tiny and with ony 3 high slots, on a sheild tanked suit, you're not going to be throwing many haymakers......
Something that was overlooked or what?

Cal logi and minny assaults can reach nearly 600 melee damage, commandos just under 700
While the minny scout can reach 412, it does so without having any slots for shield or armor mods, so you're generally going to be at 289 or less

I'm not dictating your entire play style on that one action but that's definitely the number one thing scouts should not do.
If anything they just need better hit detection (please not like the commando perk in CoD: MW2) and perhaps a bit more damage for the Minmatar Scout class. I could see them being a bit more capable at a modest 300 melee damage fully specced out with mods. That would mean 2-3 hit kills on almost anything but a heavy. Proper use of flux grenades/locus and you could one hit just about anything that's not a heavy. |

If you saw me running into a bunch of hostiles I was most likely:
A: Dicking around.
B:In a basic suit.
C:Loosing and decided if I'm going down they were getting REed.
D: Not paying attention.
E: Dicking around.
As for the bonus for the melee I'd be happy with a 200 or so base, just a random number but dammit it needs some kinda increase.

I'm not sure why the Nova Knife only gets a bonus from sidearm mods, it should get something from the myrofib thing as well.
Not to mention the Minny Scout should have a higher base melee attack and have the bonus apply to both the knives and melee strikes. Let them be quite assassins.

Yeah, but the Minmatar Scout can punch multiple times without needing to use a Cardiac regulator. So although a Minmatar scout an not match a Commando on a punch to punch basis, a Minmatar Scout can throw out way more punches.

Seriously surprised my minmatar scout doesn't have some high crit for striking the head with melees. Or better given a stun attack if a successful melee from behind, something that shows off martial art prowess. but alas I'll leave that suit to gather rust along within the archives of my unused weaponery

As for the dmg, they are a bit weak considering you need a few dmg mods+the bonus from the suit to 1-2 suits. I mean to have to be within half a meter to hurt someone with it.
I'm not a nova knife user, or Matari scout but that's my .02 isk anyway.

The base damage is fine by me, but he's saying why are sidearm damage mods applied to knives when myrofybril would make more sense, as it were. Basically CCP isn't making sense in this area. A knife attack is a melee attack. It probably has to do with some draconian programming. shrug.
Why doesn't the H2H skill not also bestow a dam modifier?

Frankly, if you're not dying 100% of the time before you get into melee range that suit is probably overpowered for the scout class.

In EVE Minmatar ships are the fastest ones, in Dust there is no way to make Minmatar Scout sprinting faster than Gallante one.

I know from experience that you OHK almost any suit if you have a decent level in minmatar scout suits and ishukone nova knives.
Damn, I miss when knives were viable. Doing real scouting is pretty enjoyable, but it doesn't have the same thrill as carving people up and jumping over their heads.
