I've been patient, played with the tank/AV changes, even begun rolling a pure tank alt. I still despise thm and think you way over shot the mark. There only seems to be two effective AV methods. Hop I'm a tank yourself (which is why i now have a dedicated tank alt) or go Kalamakazi on them with a LAV. (I said effective, not made him run of for 10 second while the hardener's come of timer)
Please, please, please fix this. Laughing at swarm launchers isn't fun. Even when I'm the one who should be laughing. AV weapons are designed to kill tanks and aircraft, not chase them away if you and two or three others hang up on one.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking to take out a tank with a single volley (which is what real life AV does). But for the love of the gods a triple volley from a maxed out proto swarm should ruin a militia tank. Not make it giggle. |

RINON114 wrote:**SNIP** As you say, the only effective way to deal with tanks is to either be in one, or to use an explosive LAV (although I think forge guns are near perfect against tanks now). **SNIP** .
Have to disagree with this. The only FG's I've found at all useful against tanks are the Assault variety, and those aren't available until rank 4.
Basic variant has a 4 second charge up, and laughably low damage. In 4 seconds the tank either has it's shields back up, hardeners on, has driven away, or flat out killed you. (Not as likely with the basic variant because you can move while charging the next shot.)
Breach variant...Don't get me started. The damage looks great initially, but the 6 second charge time stacked on top of immobility renders this a waste of time. First shot comes close to stripping shields, but trying to get the second shot without being able to avoid return fire is a waste of time. It only works if someone else (usually a tank) has your targets attention. And if a tank is going to have it's attention it might as well be me in the tank.
The Assault version is the only one I feel is close to being useful for something other than finishing a tank off/driving it off. By the time it's unlocked the charge timer is a little less than 2.5 seconds, and the damage is high enough that being able to pop 3 of them off in the same time as 1 breach or two basics means you're winning out DPS wise vs both of the other variants. Even so it's still far from perfect. Unless you have the top tier or some great damage mods it's still generally ineffective against anything but low end shield tanks.
While I haven't unlocked the proto level of these yet it shouldn't take 4th tier for the weapon you're using to become semi-functonal against it's intended targets.
