But in all seriousness, CCP seems to already have a lot of current balancing issues (look at vehicles!). Why not fix what's broke right now? Afterwards, why the heck not. But right now, they already have many balancing issues. In fact, the new rifles have worsened them.
throw able nova knives is a brilliant idea could have them on retractable cables and have them lock into your suit for wolverine style fighting.
I like to think tht our ideas get, noticed and written down somewhere by ccp for future reference, the only imbalance I find, is the dropships and the small blasters but I havnt trained my skills up fully in those areas yet. Now if dust went, open world and its players had to travel and take assignments from agents, travel across the galaxy and do more missions ,maybe a factional war, or mined ores and minerals, deep under water, even though all this travelling about, would likely make skilling take slightly longer, it would probably mix things up abit, creating more balanced gameplay.

I'd say short burn jump pack or exo-frame like the "Vulture" in Starhawk. Vertical jump with limited lateral movement used for perching. Maybe 20-30m vertical lift per burn before cooldown?

OP needs more fleshing out. I assume from the tone of the thread, the general thought is that this would be a mod.
What about a new role bonused light suit with the jet pack built in? (I do think, however, new role bonuses need to be considered AFTER all the racial basic content has been released, after considering 1.8 i.e a few more racial sidearms, racial heavy weapons, Amarr and Minmatar LAVs, HAVs, and dropships, and MAVs for everyone (I wouldn't hole my breath from racial aerial vehicles other than dropships until maps are made appropriately large enough for them, or open world, whichever would come first.)

and only if they have high resource cost (PG/CPU) and takes a equipment slot and a (new) light suit gets a decreased resource cost

Sounds cool, but definitely could become over-powered. My ideas to keep things in check:
1: Cannot fire weapons while in flight (you have to use your hands to control the jetpack), or 2: Weapons can be fired during flight, but the kick wreaks havoc with your flight pattern.
Either way, no equipment use (Remote Explosive carpet bombing, anyone?).

If they did do jetpacks, they'd need to be consumable (fuel). At least to start. And, no recharge - not even from nanohive.
You can use the fuel here and there, or on one long burn. Duration is simply how much fuel is left - like a normal gas tank.
What would be really fun is a passive ability that allows you to glide (flying squirrel style) instead of using standard inertial damps. This can be used even after the fuel is consumed, and any time you're able to use normal inertial dampener. |
