If someone revives you under heavy fire, they are doing it not to help but to get points. This results in at least 1, maybe 3 or 4 deaths (especially if a sniper has you in focus).
To fix, make it so that, if the revived player dies in 15 seconds after being revived, then the reviver (the medic or logi) loses all of her/his WP for the match. That is, they reset to zero.
This might seem harsh. But I don't like to be revived, then die, revived, then die, revived then die - - and nothing changes . . .
Players should learn that the place for needles is: (1) low clone count; (2) PCs; (3) to save someone isk. And, to be honest, I'd rather lose the isk than spend a whole minute dying and being revived.

"Ok, I've picked you up after we cleared out the area, now I'm just going to rep you up." *10 seconds later* *SNIPER* "Sonuva..." Losing all of your WP because the guy you actually tried to help dies within a really long time is utterly moronic. Sometimes, people spamming the needle is frustrating as hell, but this is not a fix this is a dribbling imbecile smashing their meaty hands down on the keyboard in a blind rage. Instead of stupid outright punishments, how about we make it such that people can only be revived when they actually use the Call For Help mechanic that is already implemented.
Yes - - that works too. Though, unfortunately 15 seconds is not really long if you're using a militia needle, since that's about as long as it takes for me to get some of my shield back.
And Im assuming if you're using a militia needle to 'help,' then it means you expect me to be able to recover my shield after being revived. Otherwise, you're not helping anyone but yourself. And if that's true, you're not playing your support role.

-All WPs.
Sucks to be you, even though you did nothing wrong. That's why that idea is moronic. It's punishment for when you're not doing it wrong which is the thing that breaks it. Simply making the downed person actually call for aid removes the spamming, since you wouldn't be able to pick them up without them first asking for it (and thus having the option to avoid it.)
Yeah - - you're idea makes more sense. So I'll edit my original post to include it.
But my idea still isn't that far fetched. There's no way you're reviving me and repping me in less than 15 seconds (probably takes 3 seconds alone for the revive to go through entirely).
But to appease you, let's say, rather than remove all WP, remove 120 wp (2x that you would get if you're revive were thought through). And let's make 15 seconds 10. Because if I can't survive for 10seconds after you revive me, then you've revived me in an area in which revivals do not make tactical sense. Therefore, you've failed at your task - - why make WP for that?

Nice Talos. But I've already responded to that: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1676018#post1676018. |

As a long-time Logibro I can pick someone up and get them to full in less than ten seconds comfortably. Consider that unless it's a heavy a standard Repair Tool will get most suits to full Armour in about five seconds (if that) and some of the best Tools will get heavies up to full insanely quickly: the Core Focused (arguably the best dedicated repper) is giving out 175 HP/s. Even with the switching between equipment and the animation, you can begin repping someone inside of two seconds of the injector activating. Someone getting killed between 'injector stabs' and 'fifteen seconds later' is not incredibly difficult to imagine: an undetected enemy, a sniper, an orbital, etc. iliel wrote:But to appease you, let's say, rather than remove all WP, remove 120 wp (2x that you would get if you're revive were thought through). Therefore, you've failed at your task - - why make WP for that? I'm sorry if I came across overly aggressive earlier, it was just the original idea horrified me. I'd say that removing the points awarded for someone dying would be punishment enough. Sometimes a revival is warranted even when surrounded by enemies (they're not necessarily in your face!) just to get another gun up and fighting.
Yeah, I mean, you sound like the type of logi I want running with me. Unfortunately, there are some who run the Medic suit, run in to revive in front of tank. And I've been in that situation where they didn't kill the medic, let her/him revive me 3 times before they killed him.
How else can we stop that without punishments. And no, losing the 60wp earned is not enough. People who run medic suits like that clearly don't care that much about their points or suits. They're just annoying. Just like those in FW matches on your own team who shoot you in the back.
Honestly, though, I don't care. Any fix for this is a fix, and that's what matters. |
