Here is a run of the mill example.
"Guys, a friend of mind sent this to me with the description that it was a highly secretive rendering of an upcoming MTAC design for Dust 514. I can't make heads or tails of what she sent me. I've lost contact with her. Can you help me decipher what she sent?"
Enhanced Picture Link. Warning: Loud Continuous Tone
[Render 03302]
Bonus Round
-First merc to tell me what this transmission process is called receives 2 tickets. -And the first one to post a decoded image receives 5 tickets.
Tickets are counted toward my lottery. (It's a clever way of 'paying' mercs for impressive knowledge and actions.)

Jadek Menaheim wrote:Clever marketing DJINN. You're not getting any takers on your lotto, so you award tickets for forum actions to better draw up word about your operation. It's almost as if you're giving away free money.
"Hey, I'm giving you 50 million isk. I'll give you 250 tickets valued at 200k isk a piece."
Genius, Sir. Genius. It would be 300 tickets; every 1 million isk gets you a bonus ticket.

Quil Evrything is awarded 2 tickets as Slow-Scan Television is the answer I was looking for. I will award 1 additional ticket to AP Grasshopper for describing the technique in a general manner.
Five tickets still remain for this challenge in providing and decoded image.

Sigberct Amni wrote:I smiled at the char name and corp name. Other than that, why should I care about this thread? Depending on how much I grind Dust matches and the amount people put down on my lottery, the value of these easy challenge tickets may be well worth it. The current pot is 3.6 million ISK and the lotto drawing is set to commence on the release of update 1.8 which CCP Saberwing has confirmed will not drop during the month of February. This provides ample time.

Daddrobit wrote:First off are you asking for a spectograpgh image? Like how they do the Portal easter-egg with the radio and in Aphex Twin Windowlicker secret face. I guess this is what you wanted? Nice. While that isn't what I was thinking of, thanks for calling me on what I described in the OP. My error. Yes, that is the spectrogram I used. To win the tickets I am looking for a transcribed raster format image from this SSTV audio file.

Borne Velvalor wrote:I couldn't get it to be perfect. In fact, I have no idea what it is. There's too many ways to decode SSTV and I'm just flipping through the algorithms hitting buttons. Got this. http://s2.postimg.org/3ysawlall/SSTV.png While crude, that works for me. The intentional distortion placed into the audio file will give you an image that looks like this.
[SSTV Transmission]
The image is a Mech Character Design by Dust 514 Art Director, Ka Lung (Galan) Pang.

Good. I would recommend using MMSSTV The automation of rx and tx (recieve and transmit) for any signal is very nice.

Borne Velvalor wrote:Don't use Windows, so I grabbed the only software available. The duration of your transmission was 41 seconds and there were some forms here that took 36 seconds so I slapped it in there. The second one had miscellaneous stuff all around the edges that I cropped out, probably because the transmission was too long for it or something.
You do realize that I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, right? lmao I'm glad you took the time to try it. You've gotten a small sample of the Amateur Radio enthusiast club. As for your tickets, I was technically incorrect in being able to award five tickets. By the rules I laid down on purchase deals, you automatically get another ticket.
Here's how the board stands.
