What makes a tanker?

I have the ISK for it, so I am a tanker.

Level 5 is what makes anybody what they are....otherwise you are just trying things.

As stated this is a true tanker. Atiim face it you are not a tanker, if you think so then you would be a bad one lol. YOU have done nothing but call for tank nerfs and yet try and tell everyone you are a tanker. With your rep on the forums I really don't think anyone really gives a rats ass what you think any more. You are not only giving you but your entire corp a bad name with every post you seem to make.

Oh also note like mentioned in the quote if you are redline rail tanking you are not a tanker period. Any idiot can turn on two militia dmg mods and two shot most tanks from the red line. yay you killed a tank worth all of 1/3 rd of my other characters proto suit lol since most wanna be tankers are in the new FOTM militia tanks. Us true tankers though take enjoyment in every militia tank we destroy. I COULD run militia but i DON'T as I have pride in being a tanker, and it is very rare you will ever see me in a militia tank. (Really really bad games usuaully lol, like when it's 4 on 1 tank wise) :p

many, many people assume that they just hop into a tank and suddenly they are a god invincible and omnipotent. that isn't the case.


Atiim, no offense but you have built up a bad rep with a lot of tankers. we don't want to be OP and your sarcastic pro AV stance isn't appreciated. back in 1.6 you made threads about how hard to kill tanks were, tanks were paper thin and a massive nerf from chrome caused a lot of people(myself included) to spec out of tanks. we got pummeled by the new build and you were saying that it wasn't enough, you didn't make any friends by doing that. I think I speak for a number of others when I say your forum posts regarding tank balance are bad, and there are a lot of them. put plainly you often fail to represent tankers interests... consistently.

our interests:
maintaining control of our vehicle
ensuring that a tank feels like a tank
creating a viable career of professional piloting
return on SP investment

you're "not a tanker" to the masses because to many it seems like you're out to get us.

You call yourself a tanker, you should know what it takes.

A real tanker is someone who invests nearty all his SP into making his vehicle better, someone who knows about his fits and remembers what modules do what. They understand what kind of gameplan their enemy is going with and can tell what fit he is running.

A real tanker spends the majority of their time in their vehicle and has done for months. I guess a real tanker is an experienced player who has spent a long time in vehicles and is known amongst other tankers, Your word doesn't mean **** until you've squadded up with others who vouch for you.

Before 1.7 everyone and their dogs had AV, you know this, it wasn't an exclusive cliub, you just had Lai Dais. Tanking was harder, sure you'd have easy games but the rough games were stupidly rough, you watched for everything and if you lost a tank and got 200k that match, you'd be down 1.5mil.

And if you want to be a tanker Atiim, you've got to squad up with Tankers, talk to them rather than just trying to put them down for trying to defend their playstyle on the forums :)

My 10 mill SP alt that has all but ~350K in vehicles is a tanker, even though he mostly uses dropships because loljihadjeeps but I still have to deal with lolrails I would argue is.

Nope, if at least using a vehicle isn't your primary role you're not a tanker. There are exceptions like if you feel your vehicle skills are "maxed out" and you branch off, but that's a lot of SP.
