The match can be summed up as follows:
1) Scout Squad took Bravo while Enemy captured Alpha. 2) Enemy lag bombed Alpha Supply room. Framerate dropped. 3) Enemy lag bombed Alpha Objective enclosure. Framerate dropped even further.
We literally couldn't move (1-3 frames per second) if we came within 50 meters of the lag bombs; the framerate drop reached as far out as our back letter, though less crippling than when near the source. This is the worse lag I've experienced outside of PC. Every member of my our squad was affected; none of us had experienced latency issues in prior matches.
If you or your Imperfect pals were responsible for either lag bomb, I'd like you to know that I think you're a f*cking coward, with respect. But that's not why I'm writing :p
* Does CCP know about this exploit? * Does CCP intend to fix this exploit? * Why does this exploit affect hostiles more than friendlies? * Why does this exploit work so well in Gal Research Facility?
Thanks!
Scout Registry,
I think equipment spam is probably one of the biggest moment to moment gameplay issues that we have right now. That's even outside any performance issues. That's actually one of the reasons that we pressed CCP Remnant to address the issue in his Q&A: http://dust514.com/news/blog/2013/12/interview-with-ccp-remnant/ (see question 8).
CCP is aware of the equipment spam issue and I'm not really sure if their proposed solution is either good (removes sand from the sandbox IMO) or adequate. The times I've encountered massive equipment spam (especially at supply depots) it slows everyone down. I think Gal Research Facility already has issues with performance and memory leaks, so when you pile on equipment spam is compounds the issue and helps turn the map into a slideshow.
They need to hard cap equipment tied to each player to end the ability for switching fits to allow you to drop even more equipment, but also put in an interference function of some sort so you can't drop equipment within X meters of another piece of equipment (especially for drop uplinks, but that deal with links is more important for game balance than for the performance issue).
In terms of the equipment spam at the depots no I don't do it because I hate causing my game to chug along a 1 FPS as much as the next person. One of the great things about faction warfare is if someone gets equipment happy you can shoot them yourself friendly or not.
