Edit: would of read your P.S sooner if you had proper paragraphs and punctuation. No troll! This is supposed to be about content! Not grammer. I am not an English major fa99ot. I am a blue collar worker and player that wrote this up on my phone in about 2 minutes. Try reading the entire post before you get all judgemental and off of the subject at hand, like a typical troll. Things need fixed before anything new is brought into game period! Oh, and by the way, you wouldn't have read my p.s. any faster with paragraphs because a p.s. comes at the end regardless. So you must just be a slow reader or just slow in the head! Good thing we're in the same alliance! Way to have my back.
I work as an underpaid nurses' aide myself, but I can still afford to use the "enter" button at least once while writing.
Take an honest look at your wall of text and maybe you'll see why so few care to read it.
As for your argument, I'll play devil's advocate: imagine first that the elements of the game are perfectly balanced, and the game is a masterpiece with what it has now. Then, the devs add some new content. Wouldn't that upset the balance? Wouldn't everything have to be readjusted to accommodate the new features, bugs, and exploits that come with new content? Why should the devs go balls to the wall just fixing everything if they're going to have to re-fix a lot of it later with new content?
Another relevant question: how long are you willing to play with the same old **** until everything gets fixed? I've played for a year and I've had to stop playing repeatedly out of sheer boredom.
Yes, things need fixed. We need new stuff too. It shouldn't be all one or the other, because then we lose somehow either way. |

I respond at the risk that you'll think I'm simply attacking you. I'm not, and I hope that you'll read to the end of my post, but I'll go ahead in any case.
Let's start near the end.
DJINN Axeman wrote:By the way, when you argue someone's post for anything other than its content...you are trolling!
Sometimes, trolling will argue with content as well. Although I was sharp about it, I thought I was trying to impart an item of wisdom about how you might better persuade people with your writing. That was the point of your creating this post... to persuade people of your opinion?
Simply put: place a paragraph between each sentence, as long as they might be a bit unrelated. This isn't too hard, even on a smartphone (where I typed this), but it *will* help others read what you have to say.
DJINN Axeman wrote:You couldn't because you were missing the basic building blocks. By the way this is an opinion of a much larger group than just myself. I am not stating a fact. This is an educated opinion of a group of people(some programmers of other games) and i am just trying to be the voice.
I agree, but the DUST devs have had their day in the sun. They've had every opportunity to create a AAA shooter for well over a year now, and while I understand their difficulty in doing so, you'll see (should you see some of my other posts) that I am also not very forgiving of their shortcomings.
At the moment, their problem is twofold: they need to fix the game they've created, and they need to maintain some interest in it so as many old players will stay as possible, and so new players will be excited enough to stick around despite their disadvantages, thinking there's something new on the horizon which they can exploit as well as older players as there is in EVE, where less than a months' training can fly specialized ships like the rest of them.
I have seen many of the same problems for most of the same time, but if this game is to survive past 2015, then it has the dual challenge of keeping both older and newer players, and for that, the best course in my opinion is to split the difference between creating new content and fixing old problems.
Let's remember that their business model relies on people volunteering to give their money to DUST in as large numbers as possible, and that requires making you (veteran player) and I (somewhat-less-veteran player) and any other player- new or old- that they possibly can as excited about the future as this game as possible that most will choose to fork over some dollars to further the cause.
I would like to see this as much as you. I just happen to see that it requires more than simply single-minded consolidation of the pieces of which DUST is already comprised.
DJINN Axeman wrote: Left alone, the issues and bugs actually compile and they are harder to fix. It would be like you trying to be a nurse without taking biology 101, but getting new equipment and being told to just do your job.
You'd be shocked how many nurses would fail bio 101 if they were tested about it today. If you respect educated opinions as you suggest, then I offer this one as someone who certainly would not fail bio 101, and although while nurses stick you with needles and give you meds, all I've done is wipe asses and hold hands.
I'll admit that I took something from your post personally: you don't have to be ignorant to enjoy "menial" or "blue collar" work, and menial work is no excuse for ignorance. I am indeed a very highly-educated person, but if you ever found me in my normal workplace, then I'd feel sad for you for being so stricken with cancer, and you'd thank your lucky stars because I'd make up for the things in life that you take entirely for granted. There's nothing that makes me- Mr. Northeastern-Liberal-College-Educated- happier than helping with pooping and standing and feeling like you have any hope for tomorrow.
If I can lay myself to waste to help anyone who's happened to appear in front of my face, then I really don't think I'm asking too much for you to press "enter" after you press "period," since it makes it easier for me to read what you're trying to say.
In case you hadn't noticed, I am still going out of my way to understand your post. I'd be grateful if you seemed a little less dismissive of mine.
DJINN Axeman wrote:I have been playing longer than most of you and I understand the want(not the need) for new equipment, but the issues listed have been the same problems since the first build! If you fix these issues, then when you incorporate new equipment and new issues occur it is much easier to center in on the issues at hand and what is causing them.
Do you understand what might very well be the need for a player who is newer (much less, different) than you?
The fixing and rebalancing of this game will be ongoing as it is for EVE; remember that EVE only started tiericide last fall, more than 10 years after the game started, and that balancing this game as well is likely to be a walk up the down escalator. Nowadays, the Omen has a niche as much as a Maller, and an Augoror has any at all. I can hold the faith if you can. |

DJINN Axeman wrote:Now, back to the intelligent part of the post( in text form...deal with it!)
Almost all of my posts are made from my phone.
DJINN Axeman wrote:If I chose to write this as a text, then that is my prerogative... not yours. If you don't like it, well in short, up yours!
And it is the prerogative of anyone with a DUST account to reply to you, be it trolling or not. If you don't like it, then it is as you say: up yours.
DJINN Axeman wrote:Listen up people.
I did. You're welcome.
And back to the end...

To you, too. The same is true whether we meet as friendly or foe.
I hope you take my posts in the spirit that they are given: one of camaraderie and collegiality and intellectual honesty.
The simple truth is that not everyone agrees with you as you see it. We- and others such as I- agree on much, though.
I like what you say, but I just don't think it's the whole answer to what CCP needs to do.
