Anyone catch it? It was a great game..but my god, I hate when the announcers/network get on a players' nuts so hard. That announcer booth was a Manziel circle jerk. I'm indifferent to either team, but the Manziel fanboi-ism was so bad I was hoping they would lose...but they won |

It will be interesting to see how Manziel does at the next level. He will surely be better than Teblow based upon his athleticism, intelligence, and throwing abilities, but how will he stand up to NFL caliber schemes and defenses? His attitude and nontangibles may need a look too. I predict he will be drafted in the late first round to mid second round. His performances at the combine and evaluations will determine who wants to spend their pick on him. From there it is a matter of the order of teams drafting and what their needs are.

I think he'll do really well in the NFL. Or at least has the potential to. Teabow was good in college but a lot of his strength came from his ability to run and to make those deep throws.
Manziel is a pocket passer. He has the ability to roll out of the pocket either direction and make the quick strikes even if it's off his back foot. In fact his ability to throw from his weak side while rolling full speed is incredible to watch. Very few people can do what he does at any level and I think he has the skills to be fantastic.
Personally I think the guy is a turd but there's no denying the skills. I just wish my Gamecocks could have played A&M this year. It would have been a great game.

This. I only saw him play tonight. A lot of that sh*t would never fly in the NFL. Everyone already knows that though. See how the transition goes for him. There were some genuinely impressive plays though.
If he goes the way of Tebow, ESPN might get yet another commentator...all those random glamour shots in a suit every 5 minutes made me laugh. |

That's where they are quite different in their ability to actually throw the football. Teabow count't even throw a spiral. He was a complete joke as a passer. Manziel can make a lot more throws and does so with much higher consistency.
Watch his game tapes through the years and decide for yourself. He has incredible talent, but his off the field issues and proneness to injury might be a problem. His body is going to have to stand up to a different caliber of opponents than what he has been facing.

Johnny Football's arm strength seems to have improved over his freshman year and that is a plus. Like one of the other posters mentioned, he also makes more throws with his arm then tebow ever did. Tebow also had a weird throwing motion. Johnny will need to learn to read NFL defenses. That will determine his fate in the NFL. For all the talk about the read option in the NFL, how did that work out this year? It did not. The SF qb had a terrible year and the Niners are really more of power run game based offense anyway. RG 3 got injured doing that read option crap and has not been the same since. Russell Wilson makes more throws with his arm than his leg and has always done so. Most people forget that Wilson was a professional baseball player so he has always had a cannon. Wilson is also highly intelligent and that is why he succeeds. Johnny Football's maturity scares me. If he grows up, I think he will do fine. If he decides to act entitled like Ryan Lief did, then well, we all know how that one turned out. Tebow should have been willing to switch positions. He would have made one hell of a linebacker in the NFL but he still sees himself as a qb when he is not an nfl qb. His all time win loss record as a starter in the NFL is 9-7. That is exactly one game removed from being a .500 qb. Even Vince Young, who is seen as a bust, has a better record than Tebow. |
