I keep hearing it being praised and compared to dust for inspiration here and there on the forums but the only 2 people iv meet IRL that iv known forever that played MAG(one being a old socom fan at a young age) both said it was just a cluster **** to get anything done and one didnt even play past the beta phase, didnt want anything to do with the game ,the other even sold it off just after buyig the full release. Can i get some clarity?,I like the idea that game had but giving order to some 100 players at once seems impossible .Iv never played MAG but there some 256 player count is something to be admired on the ps3 and i keep looking for games with huge player count warzones and i have yet to find it other than MAG on ps3
A strange game.
The only winning move is
not to play.

I LOVED MAG. I know it had its faults but playing Domination with that many players was a rush! It's hard to explain but it was hella fun. It had its bad times but the good times were so good!! |

At times it could be a cluster ***** to get things done in mag, especially in domination. Your platoon could be doing its job while the other three fail miserably. As a result, you lose due to blue dots which were the equivalent of blue berries. Mag also had friendly fire at all times. As a result, you were often subject to trolls or idiot blue dots with no aim. Overall it was a fun experience. I put 1300 hours into that game between three accounts. Something I have never come close to doing so again. The next closest game for hours for me was BF3 with 300 hours. I almost forgot about proxy chat.

The low graphics aloud for more players, why can't dust have ****** graphics and large player count? It was fun tho at its prime!

One time, I was head of a squad for SVER. I respec'd my skills for full resistance against bullets and explosions. I used the DLC Heavy Machine Gun and the DLC Heavy armour. There was this one map, under Valor control, and it was the second half of the game. I commended my squad into a arrowhead formation, me in the point. All of us ran up these stairs towards the top of the final control point, guns firing, and we had no cover. Man, we were all into it, yelling our war call into the mic, and my HMG just eating Valor soldiers. Half my squad died on the way to the point, but our attack had provided the mayhem for the other squad to follow our path of destruction with little resistance. We won, and that battle became my favorite. Ever. Of all time. |

I sadly initially started playing MAG towards the end of it's active life cycle but I had so much fun with the game.

It was a very fun game. It had issues for sure but when Domination got down to the final letters that game truly shined. Airstrikes, repair men running everywhere, a constant stream of players attacking your position . . . It was fantastic. |

But to the OP, MAG was great. It wasn't SOCOM like some players wanted it, and much like Dust it didn't seem great your first few games. You had to give it time to really appreciate it, but once you got in a good clan and got a little more familiar with the game it was basically the best thing ever. Well not really, but it was definitely good enough for some players to put 1,000 + hours in it. I had 600 hrs myself.

it was like DUST, it was kind of broken but you loved it all the same. The people made it what it was.
Oh and I was actually good at it. In DUST I get owned by the Japanese but went 127-12 against Raven Japan
Silver bullets and grims over hours on my valor account too, although I'll be hard pressed to find the will to actually want to play the game before it shuts down.
And every time I do my all time stats on SVER go down. Hard to keep almost 4.0 KDR when you haven't played for a year. |

It was great to console only people but a clone for pc vets.
Nothing actually special or new but great nonetheless, and that's pc as in personal kompyuta.

It had pisspoor graphics, physics, and controls. But it was the best FPS I've ever played. Its hard to describe. I know I felt a pang of sadness when I learned the servers were getting shut down. Maybe someday a group of people will be able to revive it somehow, but that seems unlikely. I don't think MAG will ever be played again, and that makes me sad face.
