On an average day 300mil is the best price you can get them for. Sometimes you can find them for cheaper but it is not often people sell for below 300 and if they do they get bought out quickly due to high demand.

Half a billion is kind of high. The only reason to ever use them is because you like their name and look; they aren't big ISK savers, really. I regret not selling mine somewhat; only the Heavy and Scrambler Pistol get use. I save 3500 ISK when I die because I used BPOs compared to the 300m I could've hocked it for.

Very few mercs have that much ISK to blow on BPOs. If you wait a while and piece them out you might see more than that.

I gave an EVE player a billion isk from an EVE character I hadn't used in two years for his codes.
Seeing as how the apocalypse may come before the two games economies get linked, I'd say it was a shrewd investment.

EVE ISK != Dust 514 ISK. It is much easier to gain EVE ISK and things sell for much higher prices. As for the investment, if you sell the codes, that's not a bad deal; 3:1 EVE to Dust ISK.
