I know not many people bring up the "Slayer Logi" problem a whole lot these days, but I just had a sudden thought on a possible solution, so here we go. Apologies if someone already suggested something similar to this in the past. And since I know people hate the nerf hammer, I'm trying to keep it pretty light.
1) Give Logistics suits the same base armor and shields as the Assault suit of the appropriate race.
2) Adjust high and low slots so that Logis have one less total module slot than Assaults of the same race for each tier.
3) Adjust CPU and PG to be more in line with Assaults, or potentially even slightly less.
4) Change the base Logi suit bonus to: 5-10% reduction to Equipment fitting costs per level.
5) Give the Logistics dropsuits themselves a base armor repair rate, scaling with tiers (1 HP/S at Standard, 3 HP/S at Advanced, 5 HP/S at Prototype).
And that's it. WIth this in place, Logis could no longer out-tank or out-damage Assaults, but also wouldn't be left completely gimped HP-wise. They could still fit modules and weapons as they please, but with the reduced CPU and PG and the new bonus, Logis would be much more equipment and support based. But I'm ok with Logis keeping that passive armor repair; let the guys who heal everyone else be able to heal up themselves.
So, what's everyone think? |

Someone's gonna need to explain this to me, but why shouldn't Assault suits out damage, tank, and speed Logis? Really, why not? Where's the logic? Why should the supportive/healer character have more HP than the frontline soldier? Why does that make sense? I get that Logis get shot at, so does everyone else. But it doesn't really make sense to me that the support guy out-tanks the frontline guy. I mean, TTK is too short right now, but that affects everyone, and it's a separate issue. |

SteelheadPep wrote:So you want to nerf the logis and buff the assaults. The current TTK and the new uber weapons makes this game more like COD and you still want more killing power for the assaults while gimping the logis .This topic has been addressed so many times in the past but still they pop up.Support logis need the extra slots, Cpu, pg etc to run a viable suit. A slayer will use any suit to get an edge over the next merc, so why would it matter which suite they should use? These posts have a nefarious undertone and seem to be going after the support logis due to the fact that sometimes we score higher on warpoints. Are bruised egos a good reason to nerf the support logis out of existence? Your attempts to make it look other wise are feeble at best.I wish you the wisdom to contemplate all of the consequences before making suggestions that may have repercussions that extend beyond your solutions.
Ok, this kind of obvious bs rhetoric is really going to need to stop. So, just for the record, I almost exclusively play a heavy. With a little over 16 mil SP, I'd say around a good 95% of that goes straight into being a heavy. It's my favorite thing to run. And ya know my favorite partners? Hardcore support logis. So no, there is no nefarious undertone or bruised ego here. One of my greatest joys playing this game is running with a logi-bro and seeing him place 1st, going something like 4/3. It's actually pretty awesome. My intention here was to make Logi suits more geared towards running a much more supportive role, while discouraging players from running slayer Logis. You're allowed to disagree with my approach to achieving this, but trying to attack my character like that is simply out of line.
To more specifically address your points, this suggestion gives zero buff to Assaults. They are kept exactly the same. As I said above, yes TTK is currently too short, but that affects everyone and is it's own separate issue. The CPU/PG decrease is to account for the new proposed Logi suit bonus, more strongly encouraging them to run high-end equipment over high-end weapons. |
