I've been giving a serious go a pure shield tanking using rechargers/energizer and regulators with extenders. I stay on the edges a bit more and maximize the range of my rail rifle. My TTK is getting a little better, my kills about the same but deaths decreasing. Use the shields and rail like the Caldari stuff advertises and it works out...so far.

I have a ton of other variations from pure militia gear all the way to proto (though I never run proto in pubs), but this one seems to work the most consistently vs the cost for me. Alt #1 usually runs basic Commando (I have him to Commando IV - the ADV suit just costs too much to be practical) with PlC + RR or ScR + CR/MD and standard scanner, Alt #2 is basic Min Assault with CR + Flux/Sleeks/Packed AV, shields high and cardiac regulator low, Alt #3 is skilled into RR, but I won't commit his SP to a suit until at least a couple more are released.
