I suck with any weapon outside of a sniper rifle and shotgun. And don't tell me 'all you have to do is point and click', maybe it is that simple, but don't insult me because I suck. I'm trying to help my team and I can't do that if I can't hit the broad side of a barn.

Are you using KB/M or DS3? If your on the dualshock controller, what are your sensitivity settings? And do you have aim assist on or off? (I guess on for most people).
My gun game is nothing special, but I've gotten better over time. Recently I've been experimenting with the X/Y sensitivity. I used to have it around 90%. But I've gone much lower now. Around 40%. It's worth playing around with these settings, to see what's comfortable, and how it affects your playstyle.

Ps3, X/Y 100%. Too slow otherwise, especially with shotty.

I then hold the controller upside down and use the sides of my pinkies to fire the weapon. With the controls inverted and the controller upside down I get a much better 'feel' when I ADS or even hipfire. It takes about an hour to get used to but once it's familiar to you you'll feel like an aimbot. My sister's friend saw me play like that and said it was 'hot'. So apparently chicks dig it too.

I use KB/M. I, also, have aiming issues. My aim seems to have gotten worse over the last couple patches. Although I can, in fact, hit the side of the barn, trying to do so while moving is very much more difficult nowadays. And there is no more "spray and pray" kills for me... it is more like "spray and lay (down dead, that is) :) I have gone up and down on the mouse sensitivity settings, doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. I think turning the mouse smoothing on actually helped somewhat after 1.7 -- had to up the sensitivity about 20% on both options, tho.

Are you aiming with your left stick or right stick? If your primarily using your right stick to aim at 100% sensitivity you will be all over the place, you should be using body movement to aim and make small adjustments with the right stick. I also would say 100% is too sensitive, getting shot in the back is annoying (are you also using your left stick to swivel whilst turning with the right to spin around or just spinning with the right with it at 100%) but not being able to track is worse. |

Ugh, I know, that gave me a headache trying to understand...
To the OP: Since you have everything set at 100%, the question is, do you find that you are overcorrecting a lot? Or perhaps end up leading your targets too much while strafing? Those things both tend to happen to me, so I am currently experimenting with lower sensitivity to see if it keeps my spastic tumbs in check.
To everyone else: I've not messed with the different settings for ADS since it came out, do you find that it's better to have it higher or lower than hipfire, and is there a difference between weapon types? (say, sniper rifle vs an AR).

I overcorrect a lot, and I'm just learning NOT to stand still and shoot but it results in me missing my target because I aim with BOTH my left and right sticks.

It's easier to hit your target if you "strafe" into them. Meaning, use the left stick more than the right stick. Use the right stick to "slightly" correct your aim (if they are running up hill or are side stepping a lot ) and use your left stick to aim. This helps with accuracy and throwing off your opponents aim.
Try this, it may help :)

Keep gradually lowering those sensitivities until you stop overcorrecting.
Also, see what Fire says above. +1

Like you i can't aim very well .But experimentation with the controller to get the sensitivity right for you does help. But the best tip i've had so far is to keep tapping the fire button,it really does help your accuracy. Also if you haven't done it skill into things that help reducde weapon kick, dispersion etc. These all helped me i'll never be fastest gun in west but i can help my squad /team more and i don't feel so useless. Good luck |

Leave your sensitivity on both at default. The more you get used to default settings the better.
Once you are use to the turning speed you can slowly increase it if you feel enemies are out running your turn speed.
101 - use the right stick to ONLY turn right and left, keeping up/down movements minimal ( in general, chest/head hight is the same on even ground). Use the left stick to make finer adjustments by strafing onto target. If you strafe aim, it allows you to line up shots rather than relying on just the right stick for raw aim.

As for me, I put my bars near the middle, descending from hipfire x, hipfire y, ads x and ads y. Usually in the 40 to 60 range. I have no problem hitting things except with the Rail Rifle in CQC. I don't recommend 100% for anything but a Shotgun as you overshoot.
