Tahe heed, yonder sages of CCP, for I speak wisdoms which shall betray your greatest weakness, and yet reveal also your greatest opportunity.
For verily it is said: a society is measured by how it treats the least fortunate amongst it.
Therefore, newberries (or shocking lack thereof) spell your doom!
But seriously...if it hadn't occasionally kept me from joining matches, I wouldn't guess that there is any matchmaking system at all.
Admittedly, without understanding the black box that is multiplayer game matchmaking, I propose that the pinnacle of excellence for this game consists not of how many people use which item, but of how narrow a margin every game is won.
As a player since open beta, I can say that I am thoroughly bored with matches where one side or the other clearly doesn't stand a chance of winning, but moreover, if this game becomes one where the solo newberry who goes 1/10 in a pub match can truly make a difference by going 2/9 instead, then every player will have an enormous incentive toward their best performance in every match, and new player retention should improve dramatically, thereby improving the outlook for this game on many fronts.

I had a couple good matches last night, but it was mostly pretty one-sided.
Let's see how it goes tonight. |

That one was good.
Ancient Exiles vs. Molon Labe, basically.
I appreciate the badassery behind the name Molon Labe, but there's one problem: the Persians did. :0P |

Alright. Domination was pretty close until both MCCs lost their shields, but it was all enemy tanks and dropships after that.
Not a single player on my team has >1 kdr, and onlt 2 of the opponent have <1.
It was more fun than not, but it keeps me thinking.
One of the reasons I liked Ambush and OMS was that if things were bad, I wouldn't have to wait very long for another match. Too bad that's gone... |
