Make 4 Different varieties of each match in the battle finder.
Ambush- Ambush Militia, Ambush STD, Ambush ADV, Ambush PRO.
Domination- Domination Militia, Domination STD, Domination ADV, Domination PRO.
Skirmish- Skirmish Militia, Skirmish STD, Skirmish ADV, Skirmish PRO.
The way it could possibly work is this way:
Militia Variant(Everyone can play in these matches)- Only militia fitting are allowed, nothing above militia grade is allowed.
STD Variant(Unlocked when player gains STD dropsuit and or weapons)- Only STD & Militia fittings are allowed, nothing above STD is allowed. (this will create a small gap between player fittings and gear that can be overcome and are in reach).
ADV Variant(Unlocked when player gains ADV dropsuit and or weapons)- Only STD & ADV fittings are allowed, nothing above ADV or below STD is allowed. (this will give players a fun challenge to overcome someone while increasing their skills along the way).
PRO Variant(Unlocked when player gains PROTO dropsuit or weapons)- Only ADV & PRO fittings are allowed, nothing below ADV is allowed. (this version is the ultimate pub challenge besides PC).
This will possibly fix the gear gap between players. It will not fix pub stomping as there are a lot of players that can go 40-0, 30-2 in militia gear alone, those people will still be around but the problem with proto stomping will possibly be fixed.
Any flaws, additions or suggestions?

How about only making Two types of battle for each kind of match ...
Solo Join Only - no squads allowed - so that newer players (and lone rangers) can play matches without being Corp Squad Proto Stomped every match
Squad Join - where squads are allowed to join as well as solo players - Where the experienced players can let it all hang out and go at it tooth and nail
By only having two types of battle for each kind of match (instead of four) you will not dilute the player base down to unplayability

matchmaking doesnt seem to think squads are important and so teams are one sided because one side has 1-2 organised squads and the other one doesnt.
your solution does nothing to remedy this and so we would have the same problem.
i tested this with my guys, we all made basic suits and STOMPED the hell out of randoms with em. your fix would not prevent this.
(edit for erxpansion: when the amrket comes out your changes would make militia stomping THE best isk making things an organised fac war corp could do, FLOODING the militia games with vetrens out for quick money so they can get back into fac war or stock up on high price things. that is if they dont find a way to make fac war profitable on its own at that time.
it would also create a twinking bracket where vetrens MAX out militia or basic setups and spend their days farming new players, inflating their scores while making craptons of isk) |

yah but proto stomping on its own is harmless... a single guy in proto gear isnt doing much in a pub game.
its the whole squad of them that create that scenario, and while limiting gear will remove the ptoto aspect of that, vetrens will just max out lower tiered suits and do it that way. its the squads that arnt being balanced in games creating all this "stomping" so you can remove the proto this way you cant remove the "stomp" making the whole solution pointless as it doesnt solve the actual problem

your not listening, by doing this, were making it so that new players can feel like they actually can make it, instead of being put against full proto pussies, they will be put against people with the same level of gear

and YOUR not listening, GEAR is meaningless, its organisation that makes those squads so effective.
so while they may be in the same level of gear, they will be against 25+mil SP vets in full squads with maxed passive skills.
your solution removes proto gear without removing the stomp.
it also invalidates several tiers of gear for players not in PC or competitive fac war. no need to get above basic gear.
and the problem with pubs isnt the gear, its the stomp so your not fixing any pub issues with it. |

I'm starting to think this.
I never feel like it's the suit level - I feel like it's the lack of weighting applied to the squads.
To me it seems that the matches should be based on the combined KD ratio of the teams with given tolerance levels. Squads should have a small multiplier set to artificially raise that value (e.g. = combined K/D of squad x 1.5) - pushing them out of matches that they would otherwise be eligible to join if they were flying solo. Squad Vs Squad - cancels this out and makes things fair.
I would rather wait for the match making algorithm to get me a good match than I would to be insta-matched in to the Dust equivalent of a dog food factory.

Yeah, I agree a fix is needed, but I'm not sure this is it. After all, if you make long load times, you'd lose player base even faster than bad matchups IMHO. |

MMO? CCP probably thought twice about PVE, and if i'm using my pro scout i'm gonna be VS pro CAL LOGI so no, not a good opinion.

Game modes x2.
1st - solo play - restricted to Miltia/STD. 2nd - what we have now.
New and vet players can enter solo play but it means no organised squads, queue syncing or ADV/Proto modules etc. this will give new players a chance to play with vets, get advice, without being completely overpowered. Corps would also have a ready made recruiting ground and casual players have a place to go.
Squad play is the whole anything goes that we have now.
No restrictions should be placed on the battle types in either mode. |

Any flaws, additions or suggestions? I can't use basic armor on an advanced suit... Wat. Also, all my basic fittings have at least a complex damage mod or complex shield.
