might our mercs eventually see a third health type similar to the HULL that's in eve? i think because of the nature of the game this might be a good thing, as it would create further difference between the light medium and heavy dropsuit types.. currently i'm skilling into gallente scout because it offers the same if not better armor potential than any medium suit... and it occured to me... why can my "light" suit out tank most amars and or mediums frames..
also the vehicles specificly should have a "hull" health if anything... but the vehicles outfitting seems to be much different than that in eve.. does anyone think that it would be nice to see the two games have more similarities in these respects? or is the current system better.. or maybe should it be improved in a different way? |

Maybe we could introduce some kind of critical dmg into the game. Some weapons, or even circumstances could completely ignore the player's armor and shielding and kill them outright.
Melee weapons could have the chance to deal critical damage. Like a Nova Knife swipe to the face or neck would kill the enemy player regardless of armor and shielding. Fully charged swipes to the chest could deal a massive blow like 70% of the clone's HP.
Maybe even introduce critical shots, like having a sniper rifle having a chance to one shot someone to the chest if their clone HP was already low.
I could go on for hours, but I really like the idea of having a third vital HP type. +1
critical damage as in a random insta kill is not what I had in mind.. im cant really support that personally.. I'd much preffer something that's actually equitable based on total hp... % of hp is absurd Imho however a % inscrease in damage dealt is what they already use (I think) if not that would make more sense to me..
however adding a hull to vehicles nad suits would mean there may be potential for ignoring shields and armor given the correct circumstances.. like road kills high speed colisions or failure to use your inertia dampeners... or perhaps even specific melee weapons that we don't have yet.. or indeed a "critical" headshot or nutshut or heartshot might also be appropriate but idk, just throwing it out there as food for thought |

bullet ricochet for shields will be coming back if it hasnt already been reimplented in some capacity since the modules themselves were removed and so many patches later, i'd count on that much.. cloaks should be coming eventually.. idk how many more mods they could possibly introduce if a hull equivelent hp bar something like a "flesh" instead of "hull" hp bar i guess.. maybe biotics could offer some deeper skill play idk.. just a thought.. i think that shields are actually kinda stupid as htey work right now.. look at how they work in eve.. the weaker your shield hp% then the more chance there is of bullets penitrating and ignoring it.. that only seems logical but for now this halo clone does just fine with the shield vs armor... i actually thought the extender mod nerf; shield reg penalty was a little un called for but if this is a sign that more will be done in that respect of working out the mechanics to their proper behavior then whatever.. gotta take the good with the bad, usually more bad than good but that's life for ya..
seriously tho.. i'm upset that melee attacks have to bash through shields first.. that's ******* stupid to me.. thats why i suggested a "flesh" bar in the first place.. critical hits aside.. a melee is on some level a critical hit,, its blunt (fist) or slashing (knife) weapon that should have a damage profile that in effect works like the opposite of a flux grenade.. shield hp ignored armor and flesh take full force of damage.. but to please the masses i guess that would totally require more modules to buff up ur flesh defense and anti-melee defense.. especially since melee (and knives especially) are so OP for those fuckin lil minmatar mofo scouts... as a gallente i'm a bit insulted that i have no melee viability compared to caldari or minmatar but thats perhaps an intentional deisgn measure to offset the sit and camp armored "brick wall" survivability against the shield toting speed freaks or even more scary to me, the bare bones nova knivers that can cut down any heavy in 3 slices max... though they are masters of the art, i still which i could do that better in any suit.. idk.. just cause its a fps doesnt mean melee is forbidden; just a pet peeve of mine really i guess, idk how any1 else feels about the melee mechanics vs shields
on some level i honestly believe that caldari are superior suits to the rest except that its only capable of maximum utility when there's 100% team cohesion.. a caldi on there own doesnt scare me at all but a squad or 2 with rep tools behind them is very scarey to me.. sometimes when i fight FW i find myself playing wack-a-caldi with my scrambler rifle, its alot of fun actually and sometimes uncannily predictable though often overwelming none the less.. |

Critical damage as in damage dealt directly to health is something I can get behind as long as crits are impossible while shields are up. I can see a lot of armor-vs-shield conversations popping up from this though but then, again I would be interested to hear what those guys had to say.
+1
minus what i just mentioned above about how i dont think shields should have ever absorbed melee damage in the first place.. it only seems fair that criticals are impossible with shields up or at least full shields up (an indiscretion i also just mentioned that should definitely be rectified if this game wants to remain on the cutting edge of this whole sci-fi tech thing)
for now i want more content.. when they turn this game into a subscription based game (maybe they wont if we're lucky) i'd be more adamant about this whole shield vs armor vs "bare flesh" dynamic of the game.. but there is some truth to the comment that as it stands this game is nothing more than a halo clone with an MMO crossover element and a few eve signature concepts... nothing new except for vehicle customizations that (lets be honest) arnt even a new thing.. they're just the best of the best here.. i get that's the direction they want this game to go in.. but lord almighty i cant believe that's the onyl thing they care about |
