I have often said that the one thing that irritates me more than anything in this game is being proto stomped and not because it's proto, but because what goes through my mind every time I'm proto stomped is "Really? You have to wear proto to make up for what you lack in actual skill... the skill it takes to kill me?" LOL
I thought on this some more and came to the realization that there is no such thing as proto stomping... not really. I've been subconsciously thinking to myself that this entire team has joined forces in their proto gear, all communicating through team chat, plotting against me and my squad... I've been taking it personally when it's anything but personal.
When two or more squads queue sync and they're all wearing proto that could be considered "proto stomping", but queue syncing doesn't happen all the time and I doubt that any corporations or alliances that do this actually want to get into battles against players who don't really give them a challenge. Where's the fun if there's no challenge or obstacle to overcome? (If you do in fact want to get into battles for easy kills, that just makes you a punka$$ b!tch whose amount of skill is equivalent to the amount of respect I'm willing to give to you: 0 *Cough* Punka$$ b!tches walk on the other side of the street.)
There are 16 players on each team. Queue syncing doesn't happen all the time, so the likelihood that you will have more than one squad in proto isn't that great. With a team of good players on your side, 6 people in proto isn't that big of a deal. So, therein lies the real problem: matchmaking. Actual proto stomping, if it is even a thing, isn't really the problem.
I think there needs to be an uprising against CCP and the matchmakers. Don't blame the player's for the game.

It's called team playing. Some of us enjoy the ability to play smartly and multiply the capacity of a 6 man squad. We get our dose of challenge in PC raids, so spare us the "It's not honorable if its not a challenge", you are in no position to dictate what is and what isn't fun. So kitten that misplaced discourse of yours and HTFU, so keep dreaming on with that fantasy of yours of an "uprising". Chill, it's just a game. |

PvP remains the same

I play games to have fun and the fun is in the challenge. See how high I can go and who I can beat... I had assumed that it was the same for all gamers. There is no fun in playing anyone who doesn't put up a fight... it's just boring. I live for the thrill of beating those who are considered the best. It makes me all warm inside.

Yes, proto-stomping is a thing. But I don't think it should be restricted by limitations or convoluted matchmaking.
What I want to see is a system that limits the rewards for proto-stomping, like the tech tier based warpoint rewards for kills that I suggested in another thread (i.e a basic/mlt dropsuit user would get more warpoints than 50 for killing a proto user, while the proto user earns less than 50 points f+Śr Killing a basic/mlt user) but doesn't interfere with the players freedom of choice. |

Well the thing is, a lot of players are also invested in the meta gaming aspects of Dust and Eve combined, and considering how the eve universe works, amassing isk and property at any cost (and even using underhanded methods to achieveing that goal) is the name of the game.
In Eve there's piracy, racketeering, fraud and even theft when some players are presented with the opportunity of clearing out a corp hangar for themselves. And I think the kind of player who enjoys that free but treacherous enviroment (personally I find it fascinating) might also be attracted to proto-stomping. Because to them the economy of each battle is what matter the most, not trying to "one up" other elite players. If they deem that steamrolling across the opposing team while only using proto-suits will be the most profitable course of action, then that's what they'll do.
So it's not about one upmanship for all players, but to amass wealth... Like most mercenaries want.

What makes you think anyone wants your respect? Maybe a respec, but that's CCP's job. If you think any actions on a video game makes anyone a "punka$$ b!tch" you're mistaken, that person can play the game however he/she wants, no one is telling you how to play the game, or what to look for in a game, dont try to make others do it, you'll have more time to actually enjoy the game.-

Proto stomp is what your corp and many other corps use to do or still does. By that I mean, a full squad of proto gear against complete randoms who were most likely new/under geared against a bunch of try hards. I encounter many proto stomperms through my solo aadventures. It is extremely annoying getting shot up CoD/BF style and it feels like you are the only one playing Dust because of how much more bullets you need to put into them. |
