Note: Any "Lulz, game will die before Amarr HAV comes"-type comments, while expected, are not particularly welcome. This thread is merely for those who like to theorycraft and speculate. Of course, the existence of this warning may inspire some people to leave such a comment anyways.
Got it into my head to try and plan out a prediction for the stats of the Amarr HAV. Here's my results:
Amarr Heavy Assault Vehicle - "Orison" CPU: 775 PG: 2670 Shield: 2750 Armor: 2750 Shield Recharge: 132 hp/s Shield Recharge Delay: 5s Shield Recharge Delay (Depleted): 13 Speed: 21m/s (But lowest acceleration) High Slots: 2 Low Slots: 2
Reasoning: I took a look at the regular medium frame C-1, G-1, and A-1 to figure out a some ratios, mainly with HP, CPU, and PG. Here are their stats: C-1 G-1 A-1 CPU/PG: 150/30 1 50/30 175/35 Shield/Armor: 210/120 120/210 180/180 Recharge/Delay: 25/5/8 20/7/10 20/6/10 High/Low: 2/2 1/3 2/1
Results: The Amarr have 16% more fitting in both CPU and PG T he Amarr have 9% more total HP
Here's the Madrugar and Gunnlogi stats, for comparison:
Madrugar Gunnlogi CPU/PG: 495 / 2490 845 / 2120 Shield/Armor: 1200 / 4000 2650 / 1500 Recharge/Delay: 96 / 6 / 15 168 / 4 / 10 High/Low: 2 / 3 3 / 2 Speed: 22.5m/s 19.5m/s
So, to get the Amarr HAV fitting stats, I averaged the CPU of the Madrugar and Gunnlogi, and then multiplied that by 1.16. (845 + 495)/2 = 777 (rounded down to a nice 775 for the final stats) and (2120 + 2490)/2 = 2673 (rounded down to 2670)
To get the Shield and armor, I ran into a bit of a problem. The standard med frames for the Gallente and Caldari are mirror images of each other when it comes to armor and shield, but that's not to for the HAVs. The Gunnlogi has less total HP in exchange for higher resists and a faster acceleration. So when I averaged the total HP values for the Gunnlogi and Madrugar, I got 5140, which is less than the total HP for the Madrugar. The Amarr in DUST are supposed to have a higher base EHP in exchange for fewer total shields or armor, so I bumped the 2570/2570 that would have resulted up to a nice clean 2750/2750. That makes the total 5500, which is 300 more than the Madrugar. That's what, 1 swarm missile? Just like the 30 extra HP the A-1 has is only 1 more Miltia AR round.
For the shield recharge rate, I averaged again. (168 + 96)/2 = 132. I think it's a good middle ground for something that can shield tank, but isn't as focused as the Gunnlogi. The recharge delay is just the middle ground again, 1 second slower than the Gunnlogi, but 1 second faster than the Madrugar. Again, another middle ground for the depleted recharge delay, but erring on the side of slower than the 12.5 average.
The slots were easy. Amarr suits have 1 less slot, and dual tank, to 4 slots and 2 for each of high and low was a no brainer.
The speed is another middle ground. However, since the Amarr are supposed to be slower than everything else (another tradeoff for the dual tank, or perhaps the increased stamina on the dropsuits), I gave the "Orison" a middling speed but the slowest acceleration.
So, even with vehicle shield/armor dynamics being different than dropsuit shield/armor dynamics, I used them as a rough guide and then made alterations where I thought appropriate. I feel as if the 2750 shield, while not a whole lot, will at least provide enough of a buffer as to not be shot through with one round (unless something is proto'd and double damage moded, but then it wouldn't matter anyways) and could allow for a viable shield tank, and would at least give a better buffer for an armor tank to activate it's armor hardeners for. However, I also feel that 2750 is theleastthat the "Orison" would need, and greater values would be nothing but better. The 2/2 slot layout leaves room only for 2 of the three tanking mods (Hardeners, HP additions, and Reps) and thus would make choosing which of the two important (if not doubling up on a single module type). However, the additional fitting along with fewer slots to fill means the "Orison" would be able to fit more complex and prototype modules as well. Possibly a (workable) dual tank and prototype turret?
So what's everyone's opinion? When (if) the Amarr HAV comes, how close do you feel it would adhere to the pattern I followed? Do you think it would be a different pattern altogether, as a Minmatar HAV following the dropsuit pattern would possibly be a 4/1 slot layout? |

TL;DR... but this is a good thread ! +1 OP

Yep, and once again we will see why taking away a whole slot and making something dual tanking = fail.
I am sure you are right though, and that depresses me.
While there is no better place to be wealthy than the Gallente Federation, there is no hell worse for the poor either.

The numbers and reasoning seem... reasonable.
But it feels like it could be slightly underwhelming. However, I can think of a few fittings that could be fun. |

Just realized that the formatting that's in the text box doesn't match the formatting that appears on the actual post. Not perfect, but should be a lot easier to read now.
Of course, posting during "Tankageddon" might not have the best time to talk about more tanks.

This is pretty much what I expect so while I'm excited for my gold tanks I can't see them being particularly good unless there's a decent bonus similar to the assault dropsuit. CCP will probably go light on the ehp and bung up the tanks ability to actually tank.

I wish Amarr in Dust were the same as in EVE. More low slots than the Gallente but less utility slots. Focus on armor brick tanking while the Gallente focused on armor regeneration. As such the Amarr HAV should be 1 high and 4 low at the STD level, with about 750 shield and 5000 armor.

I lol'd.
Good stuff OP! Somebody bookmark this thread so that we can go back to it in the future for comparison!

I think Amarr will be an armor tank, not a duel tank. We'll see though. |
