I recall reading in a thread that running with nova knives makes you run faster. I have noticed this effect on my logi. When I have the needle in hand I seem to be running faster. Can anyone confirm this or is this just some kind of optical illusion because there isn't a gun blocking a large amount of the screen? Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance pretty sure it's an optical illusion. Run towards an Objective and notice the distance in metres, switch equipment. The rate at which the distance diminishes does not change as far as i have noticed.

They give you an exact stat for speed, why would they let it be changed by the equipment you are holding?

Honestly its pretty easy to test. Find a long range target between two identical suits (and identical speed skills) and race. I've found nova knives and drop pads to be very fast, sidearms to be a bit slower than them, and primary weapons to be slower still. To anyone who has played counterstrike in the years of past, you already know to run with your knife out.

I've noticed this too but with my commando suit. My commando runs faster (or appears to at least) when he's got a duvolle out than when he's running with his kaalakiota RR

This was never confirmed. It's just an optical illusion created by the field of vision being adjusted while holding the knives.

You run faster if you switch from sniper to any sidearm or equipment. Same with Plasma Cannon and Swarmies. Not sure about the rest.

My Heavy is noticeably faster with a Light Weapon, and even a smidge faster with a sidearm.
 It's no illusion.

Yet, no matter if you have knives equipped and a red carries a larger weapon, they can always go the same speed backwards that you can forwards.

I still don't understand that logic.

Because they are CCP. If I've gathered anything from the 1.7 update(any update for that matter
) It's that what CCP states, is not necessarily what they deliver. I have noticed this since I have been playing Dust. Personally I feel like I move faster, if I do or not, I have no clue. It is pretty obvious, so if it is an illusion, it's a pretty damn good one. |

this is one of the reasons I run with my Nova knives all the time in my Mimitar Scout suit. Can-¦t do without them. And yes. They make you go faster.

running and attacking with knives is all kinds of fuk'd up right at the moment.

running with knives seems to make you faster, but it definitely makes you more mobile and gives you better vision for taking people down at a sprint.

No illusion. You go faster with your blades. There-¦s quite a difference between the AR & Nova when you run in a Scout suit.

It seems obvious to me you do run faster. When everyone is initially running to hack objectives, and you are running just behind an assault or two at their max speeds and switch from a light or even a side weapon to knives, you know you are going faster. You immediately begin overtaking them at a faster rate.

Around a year ago I tested and posted it; with stopwatch on 50 and 100m. The difference was within 0.05 second in 10 measurements -- so no difference beside animation.

Someone suggested it was turning speed that was affected, but that (turning speed limit) was removed.

Maybe something changed since Uprising, a test wont hurt.

You don't run faster; you only turn faster. It looks like you rum faster because your model moves his hands more, but the illusion is also present on the Sniper Rifle which appears to run very fast when it does not.
