Unfortunately Dust isn't as great a shooter as she once was. More of a second hand call of duty ATM. I have a HUGE amount of respect for any new players to Dust.
Combat tiers need to be established! Militia only battles Advanced only battles Proto only battles Free for all battles
Running lower level gear and equip requires a great deal more skill than proto stomping everything you see. If you're looking former of a challenge Use adv. or militia. But as a community we should think about what WE want and how WE can help! Chasing away players to make urself feel better in a 30/0 battle against militia should be frowned upon!
At the very least bring back corporation battles Or reset PC every two weeks Having a billion isk is definitely not good for the future of Dust' Consequences do not exist at this point!!!

Some good ideas. But...
Chasing away players is very much New Eden. Frowning upon it may happen but it's not going to stop people doing it.
On eve if your traveling to null sec but say don't shoot in me I come in peace in Rancer and other low sec systems it's just not going to happen. As mercs, squad leaders and team leaders/Fleet commanders you have a chose of what fights to take part in. Now personally as a squad leader I never run away from a fight but I will inform and help my squad save money or win and losing battle.
Now this isn't saying we should kill all the new comes but give them more info. Let's face it people coming into dust have 500,000 sp and will be going against vets with will 36+ sp at other en of the spectrum. But this don't mean they can't be killed takes team work. Lower skill point mercs need a squads. You could create a channel to help them in this, help train them.
And from this a corp having a billion isk that fine. They still need the man power and they could be broken by a spy going into the corp and wiping there wallet clean.
But from your post one thing I agree on is the militia all weapons types could be in there with a higher CPU and PG usage. |

There is a problem with comparing Dust with EVE. In EVE you can fit your ship for travel speed, fit some Warp Core Stabilizers and you can escape combat. Dust is all about PVP, people fighting each other. At the moment combat isn't consensual as you can't outrun or outgun someone with more SP. In EVE you can call on an army of noobs to take a big ship out or just run. In Dust matches have set player limits and a Clone limit so a war of attrition isn't possible.
You could limit the gear people use by fixing the amount of ISK in pub matches so it is only sustainable to use ADV or lower.
Or you could change the Clone Limit to a Gear Limit so that 5 STD suits spawns will be equal to 1 Proto suit spawn, Making a war of attrition possible. |

I got the whole New Eden Darwinism idea...and prescribe to it mostly. Mostly.
The issue is that when EVE came out there was nothing competing with it for long time and if people wanted the space based complex MMO that's pretty much where they went. This built a sustainable player base overtime and they have several orders of magnitude more unique logins per day than Dust has ever seen on its best day. This is what allows it to have such a stark learning curve.
Dust has plenty of competition...in fact, might be the most glutted game category out there. Most of the competing games deliver the FPS part of the the game better at least as well as Dust, kinda hard go argue that. The player base is small so there is little margin of error and I don't see any real concerted attempts by CCP to advertise or bring new players into the game.
Ok...how does this relate to the OP? The game needs something, anything, to even out the skulldragging a guy gets when he's trying to learn how to play for the first month.
I like the concept of corp battles or a mode where only sqds and teams can deploy to battle. I also think the academy needs to be lengthened or something.
Long term solutions will likely involve some solid PVE options. Eve has HiSec and PVE regions...we have proto-stomping in pub ambushes. |

No. Just no.
First of all: What is Militia tier? Is it proto tier as soon as I use a proto dropsuit? Is it still Militia tier if I use a proto weapon? Simply not possible.
Also player counts yadda yadda. It was told so often before. "Combat Tiers" is a VERY BAD idea. It also goes against the sandbox aspect of the game.
