I'm debating between the two because I'm trying out a logi speed fit.
So far I've been doing really well with it instead of the armor fit I had before. It's basically:
Logistics M/1 series Assault Combat Rifle 3 extenders 1 regulator, 1 dampener, 1 sprint mod 330 shield, 180 armor 7.96 sprint
Instead of being used for combat I just run in with my repair tool and heal people up, run out, and kill anyone that I sneak up on in-between.
My question is, would it be more beneficial to amp my armor up to 273 to give myself a bit more survivability so that I don't die so quickly if it only lowers my sprint speed to 7.8? The only other downside is it taking my shields another second or so to come back up.
Also, what about my prototype version of this suit? I already have a plate as the 4th low slot, and an energizer as the 4th high slot, but would it be better to use a plate to bump my armor up again to 367? It lowers my sprint speed from 8.09 to 7.93. Or should I buff my shields as much as possible with both the energizer and regulator?

Um, still logi... I already said the main role of this suit was to support. Don't stereotype logistics as slow moving armor tanked suits. Especially me.
-_-
For some reason using the quick minmatar suit as a shield logi running at 8m/s actually works well. You can get to the guy on the ground before he bleeds out, you can dodge bullets while repping, you can jump in and out of combat...I like it so much better.
Went 23/7 3438wp with it one game all by myself. Best solo support fit I've made so far ^^

Stacking shields giving a depleted shield recharge delay is so stupid especially if you're in a shield based suit, why make shields worse when armor already has a huge HP advantage, negligible movement penalty especially for basic plates, and not to mention damage mods which should be low slots according to EVE players that I've talked to.
I would have said a regulator back when shields had the advantage at this point its better to use a plate. |

A couple considerations that come to mind are: You are willfully running into hot spots to get reps and revives off, so exposure is very likely. When engaged and injured, do you wait for a full sheild recharge.
With a focus on speed and an increased level of exposure theres a decreased chance of being 'sneaky' or not getting noticed. If stealth is being comprimised by playstyle, I would consider dropping the dampener for a plate. Remember even if they cant scan you, they can scan the people around you. As you said the basic plate penalty is negligible, although it will be noticeable. But your speed wont be 'hurting'. Also if you are actually watching those shields and utilizing the regulator, removing it would hinder your choices when seconds do count. If you regularly get down to armor and either choose to or are forced to push on without shields I would say that dropping the regulator for a plate is a no brainer. And then you still have a slighty higher chance of going unnoticed with the dampener.
Personally if I'm up in mix, face to face so to speak, I feel that use of cover and tank is more important that staying hidden from tacnet. So in your case I would drop the dampener for armor plate.
Let us know how it works out.

My medics all armor/shield tank, with 1 enh dmg mod. Best shield fit i can come up with is 2 shield extenders, dmg mod, enh regulator, hacking modx2. Though that's my scoutly logi.
I'll definitely try out your fit, as i hadn't thought of kinetics and regs!

What level regulator are you using? Complex?
If you are really looking to have shield / speed tank setup for your logi I would strongly recommend experimenting with adding an Energizer even if you need to drop an extender. I have a couple fits set up for very high shield regen and it's been working really well...if you are very aware of your limitations and maximize the playstyle. Get cocky and try to one on one a GalLogi with little cover or CQC and it's going to be tough.

I have a sneaky logi fitting too. The problem I run I to with the sprint mod, is that without a stamina mod too, your constantly sucking wind lol.
I don't think the extra .18 or whatever sprint speed is buying you too much in the long run. I would go with the armor or even consider a basic reactive, that way you are getting a little repair too, because everyone forgets to rep the logi! (Unless you are gal logi and get passive regen, then go with the basic plate or advanced ferro if you can fit it) |

Complex dampeners are on ALL of my fittings now. People have no idea where I am, and I can actually hide behind a wall without them knowing I'm right behind them.
I've decided that plates are the way to go. The speed is the main aspect on this suit, but I don't want to rely on my shields so much to the point that I can't do anything with them down.

You are running shield tanked, play to that your current setup relies on not being in the fight. So I would suggest regulators all the way, even remove the plate at proto.
Minmatar delay is already low. Personally if you wanted to play this kinda suit you should gone caldari.

That's a tricky one. I would go plates, since it doesn't sound like you're being in and out of combat constantly.

Caldari Logi doesn't have 4 equipment at proto Caldari Logi doesn't have a base 7.0 sprint speed Caldari Logi doesn't have the huge cpu/pg reserves that minmatar have Caldari Logi doesn't have a 25% passive hacking bonus Caldari Logi isn't very versatile at all

This sounds familiar... All I can say is that if u want to run regulators, run 2 complex or none, and energizers are about the only decent shield mod left. Personaly id lose the damps and kinkats but each to their own. One thing that will make any shield fit work one on one, is that overgrown submachinegun ur using. Problem is nowdays if im relying on shields to save me I try not to get closer than 50 meters to any enemy, witch makes logi work kinda tough... and rail/scrambler the only viable'weapons. Peace. |

The ~90 HP equates to about 1 bullet. You'd probably be better served fortifying your current HP. I'd even suggest an Armor Repper, instead. You already have that 5HPS passive rep working, amp it up.

don't worry about your speed, it doesn't help you any. if you want to be fast grab a cardiac reg it will go a lot further than not plating a fit.
if you are determined to keep your speed feroscales are always an option if the shield reg works for you keep it. a basic plate is a 3% reduction but remember most people plate their fits so taking that 3% hit is still better than all gallente and amarr fits and many caldari fits that tank out their lows.
