This should probably be in the Feedback/Requests board, but I'm going to put in here in General anyway.
So basically, I hate people that use heavy frames / Sentinels along with light weapons, no matter which weapon.
Period.
I can't tell you how many times I've been killed by a Sentinel with a RR, AR, or SCR, not because his gun is any better than my AR but because he simply had more HP than my Assault suit and he killed me first. Plus, heavies attract logi's naturally (unlike medium suits), so I can nearly kill him, die, spawn back in, and find him at full health again wrecking my team.
It's just such a dirty way to win. However, I'm not sure how to solve the problem. Taking away their ability to carry light weapons wouldn't make sense. What do you think? |

What's dirty is releasing a game without all its base content, its kinda why I don't even use my heavy suit.

CCP actually made a video showcasing a Heavy using a Sniper Rifle and saying how much better it was than using a scout suit, so... Working as intended.

That actually doesn't bother me that much, since I never bother hunting snipers anyway. However let them make a video showcasing the Heavy with a SCR and I'll hate them for all eternity. |

How is a heavy using something besides an HMG or FG a "dirty way to win"? Because they have no dedicated light slot? Does that make a commando running duel SMGs dirty? They have no dedicated sidearm slots.

My problem is that it's just too easy. How is a medium suit supposed to counter it? (Which is why it's used most likely). One on one the heavy's got the upper hand. Maybe we should all use heavies instead of medium suits. |

Well for one, if you're getting all up in a heavy's grill you're an idiot. heavies are only slightly more survivable in this low TTK anyway, so just treat it how you would any other suit at a distance.

I've really only noticed this tactic being moderately successful since 1.7, with the adition of the RR. Before, when I saw one of these heavys I'd usually lol first then proceed to vaporize them. But now, with the change to the weapon's effective range and the addition of the RR, it is actually something to be mildly feared. There is a solution however, at least it seems to be working for me:
Dps + strafe + distance = kill
Two damage mods and an adv RR (or preferably proto RR) and a little distance and that usually does the trick.
I am actually a fan of this tactic (I think it is a creative idea) but the only heavy suit I have on my main character is the 'Dren' heavy. My main is a Gal and I am waiting for the Gal heavy. This fitting is the best I can do now, but I fing it to be very effective in the right situation:
Comp extender
Std RR Dren Scrambler Flux
2x comp armor repairer
This fit has 601 shields and 600 armor plus 12.5 HP/sec repair rate. It 48 seconds to fully repair the armor, on this suit, from 0 health, but most of the time people don't even get close to half so around 24 second which is pretty good. Man, I really wish I could try this out with a proto Gal heavy. Oh well, one of these days I guess.

Here's What I think.
No, limiting heavies to Heavy weapons won't solve the problem at all, but it will manage to remove what little diversity the Heavy class has left, which is what DUST 514 is supposed to thrive on.
And maybe if heavies had more than two weapons to their name, you'd see less people using them with light weapons.
Plus, heavies with light weapons aren't even a huge problem. Just get a Rail Rifle and you'll melting through their armor like butter.
But be advised, for the butter is a tad bit stiff when you first start the melting process.
We finally deployed in the MinFW Match!

Im using medium suits primarily, and I kill heavies all the time.
It's your lack of skills and tactics that's the problem.
If you see it's a heavy, throw a grejade first and then pump his guts full of lead. Use your superior mobility to your advantage (the heavy will most likely be slower than you).
Also, in what way is it a "dirty" way to win? Does the heavy somehow become superior because he used a light wepon rather than a heavy weapon? Your argument makes no sense...

The problem is that most light weapons have longer range than heavy weapons. Range is the advantage I have over heavies, until one has a Rail Rifle. At that point, he has the advantage over me because the base Sentinel HP is over 800, before stacking armor plates and/or shield extenders. |
