My twopenneth worth........please be gentle!
I would say to improve scouts how about the following?
Add say 20-30hp on base shield and armour values.
Add another 1m/s on base movement speed.
Base scan radius 20m rather than 16.
Am I right in thinking that Gallente scout suit level 5 and profile dampening level 5 means you can avoid pretty much being seen by most scanners and suits without having to run dampeners? (45db *0.65 = 29.25db)
Also, couple of quick questions:
1) Why do tanks never show up on your radar thing and jeeps only sporadically and 2) my clone never seems to run even when i click whichever stick it is. Is my game broken or is just not that obvious when your clone is running?
Ta!

Raising ehp is a possibility but may push the scout towards a light medium suit. I'd prefer the movement speed and some more PG/CPU over ehp.
20m passive is a nice round number, but range isn't really the problem with passive scanning. It's the scan precision or range as you cannot have both. After the enhancement skill you're scanning at 40.5...throw in a complex and your scanning at 32.4. Not too bad until you include range into that. Issue being is that active scanners always beat passive, with less put in.
While you are dampened to that low of level you are falling below ADV scanners which is great for pubs. But you'll eventually come across a proto scanner scanning at 28db...well that is one mod no big deal. But then the terror comes to the field the focused proto scanner. To escape this bad boy you need 4 complex dampeners...which is nigh impossible.
To answer your questions:
You may miss the tank because passive has such low range, the first ring on your radar is 20m and second is 50m so it has to fall below that (unless you have range amplifiers). Other times vehicles can move so fast they can move in and out of your radar before you know it. You'll hear them long before you see them. Sometimes it could just be a bug too.
The other issue is a bug called stamina freeze or lock. Sometimes the game will not let you use your stamina and you cannot run. I think this happens mainly when you let go of sprint and immediately try to sprint again. [/quote]
Thanks for the reply, appreciate it. That makes sense with the tanks, my range is probably about 35m, but sometimes I'll be hiding next to one and it won't show up which seems a bit daft given it's supposed to be the future. You'd think you'd scan it before you heard it. With sprinting, initially thought you couldn't do it with say a sniper rifle but played thousands of games and been able to sprint about 5 times with an smg so it must be bugged.
It would be great if Gallente Proto had three low two high slots instead of four low one high.

I'd add that I don't really like to complain about this game because, y'know, it's free, I feel like I'm doing more than just trying to unlock a different colour for a Light Machine Gun and in two or three years I reckon it will honestly be great.
Passive SP are great, especially if your build is getting murdered. You can just not play for a bit until the game comes back to you.
I don't have access until February but I'll max out EWAR when I next log in so I can run sniper or anti-tank scout, depending on the map. I'd imagine once you get enough levels in core skills, you can adapt builds fairly easily to whatever's good at any given time. Just a question of whether you go infantry or vehicle when you start out I suppose. |
