Look people, these tanks are not that bad.... in all reality its turned into a cash cow for me. But im a Prof 5 Forge
if your in a squad you have to understand that now in dust there is a HUGE roll called * AV *
I will roll into ambush's and just start out with my Forge, the last match I just played I downed 5 Dropships and 3 SOMA's in 1 OMS
and in most matches I roll out of the MCC with my HMG, waddle around for a bit with the spray and pray and as soon as I start to see RDV's I swap over and clean house of any Tank or Drop ship, normally without any problems.
but that leads me to this, be warned! even some of the best AV role players can be beat. I personally have been out gunned by many of New Edens Best Tankers with there Proto tanks. those things are nasty and for the SP and ISK you put into them you should be.
but why I actually posted this is to just say HTFU people, I got a guy in my corp that hunts tanks with LVL 1 PLASMA CANNON.
yeah no bull ****, I watched him take out 2 SOMAS with a lvl 1 PLASMA CANNON ith no help.
most people who are running these are just people trying out new things or just trying to pad there KDR with a cheap tank that CCP made FUN, and yes CCP made tanks fun. so stop crying because something in the game besides the AR is FUN.
sooooo teach them a leason and BLOW THEM UP, Cost them money, its pretty simple soo all the QQ is unessasary.
if you still cant figure this out hit me up in game I can show ya how to do it, its not that hard,

I got myself a new strategy... its called dusting off Big Bertha(HMG) and pushing people's faces in for the many indignities my fattie has suffered all of Uprising
Thanks CCP for making the HMG Heavy viable again :3
That's no excuse though to slack off on releasing a heavy laser =.=

I hunt other tanks sometimes for fun, in infantry suits. it's always funny to see what happens when they start to panic.
the best was the one who stood their ground and overheated their gun, then just sat there like a lump. They even had small guns. It was like "you don't even deserve a tank. Even militia. Uninstall dust, and apologize to your parents for being a massive failure" He even died in the thing.
How are these tanks OP again? Oh right, a driver with even a shred of sense will know the basic rule of "OW! THING HURT ME, RUN AWAY FROM THING!"
If you hear the words "WORTH IT!" look about, something hilarious just happened.

I agree with this thread. I was having a tough time with tanks, then I skilled into rail tanks and dam amps. As soon as I blow a few tanks up, I'm free to hack all the letters for my redline sniper team.
I just feel for swarm launchers as they are strictly AV but don't really get a benefit for being so.

if you don't like something find a way to Destroy it,
after I blow up more than 3 tanks, they " Most of the time " tend to stop spawning them.

Forge gun is doing it's job just fine. When the right tactics are used, vehicles that are supposedly proto (newsflash: they are standard hulls with only three complex mods at most) drop in 3-4 shots. I don't understand the problem. I don't even get help most of the time in pubs and still have no difficulty taking out these militia tanks that are causing all of this trouble.
So about those vehicle locks...

As I understand it the Forge Gun is in a much better place than the Swarm Launcher.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else, there is the Learning Coalition.

I will say, when im forging a proto tank it does help to have my corp with atleast 1 swarm guy to help keep pressure on the tank, and get him in panic mode
and ive lost some tank kills to swarms stealing the last little bit of armor in the end of the fight

I prefer a particle accelerator to my officer FG. I havent touched my proto swarms or AV grenades in awhile, they're pointless.
when i factor in dmg mods, to my railgun or FG, i prefer the rail even more.
why would i use a dropsuit, that costs more than a tank, while the tank has twice the range, does way more damage per hit, has WAY shorter charge time, making it way easier to hit, have way better mobility to chase tanks on cooldown, and I'll be immune to small arms, and can 1v1 other tanks up close?
THERE IS NO REASON AT ALL TO USE AV ANYMORE. AT. ALL. EVEN A PROF5 2 DMG MODS GASTUNS IS OUTCLASSED BY A MILITIA RAILGUN. |

I skilled into Swarm Launchers when only a few people used them. Before murder taxis. Before the Swarm Launcher was buffed twice making it OP. I mostly stopped using Swarms when they were OP, because tanks were not a big problem at the time. Now tanks are being spammed and Swarms have been nerfed into uselessness.
Tankers are telling me that everything is fine, and I should just call in my own tanks.
A heavy is telling me that everything is fine, and I should just skill into Heavy.
Well, truth to tell, I have given up playing Fox Gaden. The Swarm Launcher is crap. I will only be playing my Heavy Crash Gaden until something changes.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else, there is the Learning Coalition.

Your thread title, along with the way it's written appears to encompass all dedicated AV players when you are only referring to Forge Gun users.

Although this is a not technically a Swarm Launcher thread, I might as well mention the changes I would like to see for the Swarm Launcher.
+25m to lock range, making it 200m, up from 175m. (It was 400m in 1.6)
+30 damage per missile, making it 250 damage, up from 220. (It was 330 in 1.6)
I think this will still leave it Under Powered, but I think it is better to make small changes and then reevaluate, than to overshoot the mark and make it OP.

but just trying to inspire some more people to do some AV to help make some of these scrub ass tankers get bored with it and hang it up.

I stay and take it until I pop sometimes. Usually we're winning by a landslide and I'm starting to veg out, so I forget to continue cycling my hardeners and die. It's a lot of effort holding R2 and selecting a hardener every 30 seconds, you know! 
Also, I use small turrets. Nice for ferrying around people and having 2 gunners for blasters is like multiplying your DPS output by two and a half times. It's great fun having 3 guys in a hardened blaster tank going around mowing everything, including other tanks, down. :3
