Thats how many tickets I've sent in, trying to find a fix for the problems DUST has been giving my PS3 (No, my PS3 has not got any hardware issues, it is definitely this game causing it)
And they've finally stopped replying.
Lets develop a PS3 game, that doesn't work on every PS3, and it only works on the Slim!
Wonderful idea, so many other devs can get their games to work flawlessly on the Phat, but CCP just cant.
Not even the Fallout games give me this problem, and thats really saying something.
DUST is so broken, even my PS3 refuses to let me play it.

Have you considered keeping the fans cleaned? What about elevating your PS3 a bit with two small blocks so that there is air circulating underneath it? Did you make sure the PS3 is not stored in a confined space like a closed shelf and that there is open space around it for better circulation?
I asked myself these three basic questions and so far it has saved my PS3 for a long time back when I still had a PS3. If you are encountering yellow light of death, it's probably because of overheating.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

Fans are clean.
Haven't done the block thing, will try that.
PS3 is not stored in a confined space, its out in the open, with 4 inches between it and any other objects.
Haven't got the YLOD, its just a red flashing light, its been doing it for a month now.
And I haven't replaced my hard drive.
DUST is so broken, even my PS3 refuses to let me play it.

I see then. In that case, here is a couple of pro tips in case you don't already know.
1. Never press and hold the power button to restart. Just a quick press-n-release and wait. If you press and hold, that would be the equivalent of pulling the power cord which is equal to simply taking your PS3 and dropping it on the floor from 3-feet high.
2. Get in touch with the CPM and see if you can press your concerns through them.
3. Go to http://www.dustcharts.com/ and click on the Chat link to get in touch with a few Devs on IRC.

The older phat systems have cheep thermal compound in them. They would dry up in around a year. Before replacing the HD. Get yourself some "arctic silver" from any computer store. Find some you tube vids on what to do. Takes about $8 usd and 30 to 60 minutes to do.

I have an old Fat PS3 and a new one and hundreds of hours of Dust play fine on both. I keep the fans clear, they aren't touching anything else that makes heat, and I keep them standing upright, on their narrow edge. They aren't against anything on either side, allowing air to flow completely around. The fat one is an original with heavy use since just a couple monthes after the PS3 release. It burnt out the disk drive motor at one point but that was a cheap fix. Other than that neither has given any problems ever.
