That's hilarious.
Infantry combat is all about getting the first shot of. What, you think people walk up to reds and are like "Good day, sir! Could I interest you in a duel of honor?" No. Infantry battles are ganging, backstabbing, underhanded. Infantry battles last seconds in most cases. You either fight or tuck your tail and get shot in the back.
If you ever had any merit as infantry, you'd know this.
I see HAVs in every single battle I take part in. The difference between HAVs and infantry is that HAVs can take the shot in the back when they tuck their tails. Railgun HAVs have a ridiculous control of the field, and that's fine. As infantry, they're easily avoided, just like every other HAV. (Really, I have bigger issues getting away from LAVs than HAVs. Persistent motherfuckers.)
I could list all the reasons why HAVs are just as pitiful as a Sentinel with a Thale's Sniper Rifle, but that's for another time. I'm rather tired of repeating them.

In other words, SP gives a marginal advantage at best. Skill is everything.
In a way that it isn't for infantry. And... if your 1400 EHP heavy is getting out-fought by an MLT AR, you have bigger problems than TTK.
For what it's worth, aside from my proto rail, I also have proto logi, proto assault and adv heavy (but imperial ak.0 :P). I'm not simply talking out of my arse... The biggest TTK difference between tiers is actually with my assault suit.
I use the Commando. If you have never used the suit, I suggest trying it. When I go 20+ a game, I'm not using a prototype suit or weapon. I'm using one with no highs, no lows, no grenades. Going Commando in the A-I means getting neutered from modules. I'm not dependent on complex damage mods or reppers. It's all about ability. There's no "in-between". I use that goddamn thing in every FW I take part in, spare for when I initially spawn. (At spawn, I am a scout with uplinks. Take a point or two, throw my uplinks somewhere, change out to A-I.)
Whenever I see you, you're in a HAV every single time. Get off the dependence. It's weakening. I can't use my prototype gear because it's too easy. My "taboo" setup one-shots most infantry because it uses the Imperial, stacked with damage mods. If you didn't know, I'm prof. III in SCR. It seriously takes a ******* Sentinel to stand ground against it. Even then, I'm not going to be crazy enough to be in his optimal.
SP is nothing but a stepping stone. I have an alt that stomps the **** out of everything and it has less than a million SP. Go figure.
P.S. When you shoot a heavy in the back, chances are that he isn't going to be able to turn fast enough.

I'll take this in parts.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather not use a hammer to smash the skull of a kitten in. I'd rather fisticuff a goddamn lion. As I motioned towards somebody (I'm not scrolling back to check the name, and it's bloody hilarious how multiple people are attempting to engage me in this matter)
Quote: Let's take me for example. I'm a pilot first, infantry later. I now have ADV basic light Gallente suits, ADV (and Federation PRO) Gal Logi suits, ADV heavy, PRO links, hives and rep tools, ADV scanner, ADV AR, ScR, mass driver and ADV HMG (PRO AUR HMG), ADV swarms (which I don't need anymore), officer forge (which I don't need anymore), and there's probably more I'm missing because I'm not on the game.
Have you used the HMG lately? It's pretty boss. I really have nothing else to say to this. lol. I don't have my game up, so I couldn't tell you what I prof'd, pro'd, or advanced. (I think the Flaylock is the only thing I don't have ADV'd. I used the Breach a bit after the nerf of Flaylocks and it lost novelty quickly.)
Quote: And then.......................... there are my beautiful tanks. Both hulls, access to all PRO large turrets (never again small turrets). I could easily take out armor tanks with my XT-201, as well as terrible Sicas; I could use my blaster for everything that's in range, from shield tanks, to armor tanks, to punishing infantry. And then there's the rail........ body-shot infantry that doesn't move, splash damage on infantry that is moving, and at most 3-shot tanks that are standing still.
Despite popular belief, I actually used to tank back in beta (I gave up on it because I had the Enforcers trolling the **** out of the field and it made me sad). Blasters are pretty gnarly. I think it's hilarious to watch a "tourist" try to use a Sica against a Maddy... in close range. They know who they are.
Quote: I prefer tanking because it's hard.
This literally made me "wat". It deserves to be separated from the rest. 1.7's tanking is the easiest since close beta. Seriously. If you're having issues in the build where suicide LAVs, other tanks, railgun installations, and the random R/E scout are the only ways to effectively kill a tank... you should find something else to do. Really. (Personally, a tank bust Battlefield style, though I'd rather not keep getting banned for it.)
Quote: At any moment, a red tank or rail installation could destroy you before you've figured out an emergency escape plan. Uprising 1.0 through 1.6 hardened us against anything. When 1.7 dropped, infantry was surprised we actually went back into tanking, and as usual, started threads calling for tank nerfs, because they weren't happy with the changes THEY forced on CCP. WE didn't want the changes. Infantry wanted them.
At any moment, a sniper could headshot me with a Thale's and drop me before I could find a way to escape. An AR could shoot me in the back. A LAV could run me over. A CR can break down both my shield and armor faster than the Plasma Rifle. A tank could be sitting where I'm going. A scout could of R/E'd my path. A guy on a tower could be looking down at me with a MD. A heavy with a HMG could be sitting around the corner, ready to drop me in a heartbeat. I could go on and on about all the near unavoidable possibilities that come with infantry, but I'm pretty bored of this topic in general.
And seriously- if you allow a red's installation to exist, much less shoot you, you deserve to die. You really do. As for HAVs? Waaaaaah. HAVs killing my HAV! Waaaaah! It's really one of the only ways to combat a HAV- don't complain. I enjoy watching militia wreck standard, even if it is HAVs.
As for changes...
You people are singlehandly responsible for the kick in the teeth for FGs, despite every FG outside of the Assault being the most balanced thing in this game. Hell, we, the FGers, have even admitted and complained about the Assault. But no, don't listen to the people that use it. Waaaah. It killed my HAV, it's too strong! Waaaaah! Everyone and their bloody mother knew that the bugged reppers and the hardeners were way too overpowered for what they were. Just like FGers, there were HAV drivers that even admitted and complained about them.
And surprise! Every change is pretty much forced on us. It's nothing new. It's a pitiful and irrelevant excuse when used in arguments.
Second surprise! I hope HAVs stay exactly as they are and infantry gets their AV back.
Third surprise! It's the HAV pilots that cried the massive rivers in order to get AV into being less effective than rocks. My FG still eats everything though.
