With Damage resistances now added for 1.7 (or altered, whenever they were added) I was curious if other players were noticing them playing any kind of significant role now.
For myself, I rarely see them come in to play unless the damage or eHP is high. Shields seem to resist explosive damage quite well from my STD Mass Driver, but once through they tend to eat straight through armor. A MLT Scrambler Pistol has an easier time of pealing the shields off, but unless my aim is true, an armor-heavy merc is going to laugh at me (or shoot at me).
I feel, that given the low hp of shield extenders, they should be at a new disadvantage now (I know, like they needed another one) compared to plates. This comes from an observation I made about who is likely to survive a missile turret blast: Cal/Min or Am/Gal? It seems that the shielders crumple easily under the explosive force of the missile turret, but the armored suits actually can take more of the punishment.
It seems that the shields lack the raw HP's to effectively bring their resistances into play, while the armor should be more hurt by explosives, but can actually take it given their higher HP count.
I was just wondering what other players were noticing (if anything) for the Damage Resistances now. |

About the only way to notice that there's any resistance at all anymore is with grenades(besides core locus) and MDs. Everything else rips through both shields and armor without much trouble it seems.

Explosive weapons do more damage to armor, plasma weapons do more damage to shields. It's always been a "hidden" factor in each weapon. Thus a Duvolle AR would do 110% damage to shields but only 90% damage to armor. (Unless that changed in 1.7)
There's a website out there somewhere with each weapons specific break down of what percent of damage is relayed to shields and armor. It also has a graph of each weapons optimal range to drop off range. Not sure how up to date it is or what the actual website is. I'm sure the googles would help you find it.
Anyways, back to the topic. I've noticed it with the addition of the Rail Rifle. It's suppose to do more damage to armor than to shields. Once it breaks through an enemies shields their armor drops dramatically faster than the shields do. As an AR user it used to be the other way around. I've definitely noticed the slight difference. I'm glad CCP finally put out a weapon that counters the ridiculous amount of armor stacking that's going on. |

It's definitely noticeable and makes a pretty big difference in many situations. The RR is a very good counter to Gallente because it goes through armor so quickly. I can easily tell the difference when I get someone in armor through how much damage I am doing. |
