ATM I'm spending time with family (Yay holidays :D), but if you join my local channel "Learning Coalition" (Without the quotation marks), then when I get back on New Year's Eve, I'd be happy to squad up with you and we can talk Scouts. Or other things. Either way, I have plenty of different ideas and sh*t.
Because you did the TL;DR first, I didn't understand it, but I think I see what you mean. I think how it is now, it works like this (In terms of tiers)
Civilian - Militia. Pretty easy conversion there. T1 - Basic Frames, no defined role. T2 - Things like Logistics, Scout, Sentinel, Commando, etc. T3 - Braching role. Amarr Sentinel could have 2 branches, Point Defense and Point Assault, same works with Scouts, they get Recon, Infiltrator, etc.
That covered it, right? Not very far in EVE, so these tiers confuse me in what order they go in, what they do, etc.

I like the idea of having variants of suits with a similar idea to the variant models of weapons. So long as they aren't quite completely new 'roles' there would be no additional SP sinks to deal with. Rather it would be more of a player's preference if they buy one variation of a drop suit or another.
As far as MWDsGǪI don't see a way that would not be game breaking. Similar to what we're seeing with fuel injectors on tanks right now. I would be interested in giving scouts jump jets or magnetic grappling hooks.
Also hypothetically if someone were contemplating a 'Phased Matter Module' because they think wouldn't it be cool if I could walk through wallsGǪno. Just stop it. |

The MWD Doesn't jump you very far. Just far enough to escape a risky situation. Maybe you can't activate it under fire? I was mostly just thinking about travelling a fast distance, scouting the area with a high Scan Precision, and then GTFO. Maybe this: -Have a 3-second activation time, at which point you can't move. -Jumps 100m ahead. -Can't go through walls. -CAN go up hills (Anything you need to jump over counts as a wall) -Cooldown of 30 seconds, but the Recon gets a recharge bonus (Proto MWD and proto Recon = 20 seconds) -Can only be fit on Scouts
That way, its fine normally, and IF you can use it within 3 seconds and not die, then you have a chance to escape (If you can survive for 3 seconds while standing still in a scout, you deserve that chance).

Artificer Ghost wrote:Alright. My body is ready for all the hate I'm about to be subject to. -SCOUT ROLE IDEAS-
//:Recon -Fastest-moving Scouts that have very good Scan Precision. Downside: Very VERY low HP. The Recon's bonus should be a decrease on cooldown for a module I'll mention earlier. -These are best for scouting out the enemy while avoiding conflict. All things scanned by this role are shared with ALL SQUADMATES.
//:Infiltrator -Slow-moving Scouts (Compared to others) that have a very low Scan Profile. Downside: Can only fit sidearms, and, like I said, are slower. Have a bonus to hiding Cloak shimmer (When cloak is released). -These would be used for battlefield assassinations. Running in and out of enemy-held locations to take out snipers, uplinks, heavies, or just general scouting.
//:Overseer -Average-speed Scouts that have a high Scan Range and Low Scan Profile. Downside: Relatively low Slot Count. Has a bonus to Sniper Rifle zoom. -Best for watching the field from above, the Overseer is the battlefield sniper, that see everything and are hard to see. Increased Sniper Rifle zoom makes him an excellent spotter.
//:Tactician -Higher-speed Scouts that have higher base Scan stats (Precision, Range, Dampening) than a Light suit, but not as big a bonus as the roles that have less than 3 stat increases*. Downside: Lower Health and can't fit grenades. Has a bonus to Primary Weapon RoF (By a minimal amount). -Made for picking and choosing his battles, the Tactician has high speed so he can get away quickly, and higher scan stats, which will help him decide whether or not he wishes to engage. Bonus to weapon RoF helps him eliminate targets quicker, but the loss of the grenade will prevent him from becoming a slightly-faster Assault suit.
-SPECIAL MODULE IDEAS- I'll probably add more as I get less busy, but right now I only have one.
//:Infantry MWD -In EVE, there's a module called the Micro Warp-drive. It basically makes you move VERY fast, letting you easily close distance, or just out-turn some of the bigger ships. In DUST, it would be like a mini teleport device. With a drawback. These would instantly teleport you 100m ahead, but have a 30 second cooldown afterwords. Suits like the Recon, which would have bonus to distance travelled and/or cooldown speed, could use this as a getaway device, or running further into enemy locations to get a look at their firepower. -Use and downside: Get it out, press R1, and jump IN THE DIRECTION YOUR FACING 100m. Only forward though. You can't go straight up. Downside: If you press it and there ends up being a wall obstructing your path, you instantly take damage based on how close to the wall you were in the first place. Damage capping at 200.
Yup. Let me get something to protect myself from the oncoming storm.
1. Are you, yourself a scout? Not meaning you set up some basic scout suit and ran it a week or 2. Just curious, and my bad if I missed the part where you mention not being one.

I would disagree with this statement. You are dumping everything into simplified profiling. People can sneak up on you easier on some maps than others, plus someone with extra dampeners are harder to see coming, plus if you are extremely busy with protective cover for your squad mates, someone could sneak up behind you.

There's no part where I said I wasn't a Scout, but I think you missed the part where I said I WAS a Scout. I've been running Scout since Chromosome, mostly with the stealth/assassination stuff.
EDIT: Also, could you please un-quote the OP? Thanks. :P

Better read than the hunger games series atleast also the best place for one to express their opinion on scout fixes to get a idea of the popularity of said idea. Unless your quil and just post what you want

No problem. So I read the ideas, then a few replies to see what suit you ran. I got to this part:
Artificer Ghost wrote:1) I'm a Commando user. and was like Ohhhhhh, a commando player. XD Not that I don't dig bits and pieces of your ideas, just they ether don't make as much sense (to me) the way the game currently is. They could make a lil more sense if the battlefield was much larger, there were more game modes and some things were tweaked.

This made me lol, the thread is no longer an idea hub, all you have to do is go through the last few pages to see that.
Though I did find this thread through the scout thread

Sounds fun, I'll add the channel, and we can bounce off ideas off each other and poke holes in them.

As scout, no thanks.
We are marginalized enough without putting effort into non-starter fixes.
I'd encourage you to play a scout nonstop for the next 6 months and then come back to us.
happy hunting!
