Get you about 10 solid friends and then make one. Anything less and you're off to a rough start since you need to build up a player base and most people are in corps already or are just casuals. But tbh there's no reason unless you have a specific goal over the years or you want to start a gaming community. It's too much effort for anything else, take it from a former CEO and current second in command.

Starting a corporation may be a good way to gather players, but be wary of trying to start an Alliance.
As of now the Alliance MUST be handled by someone from EVE, and a hidden value that dictates everything your Corp can do are called SHARES. Dust players cannot touch Shares in any form, but if an EVE player manages to get even one, they can... replace the CEO, hire n fire whoever they want, and have free reign on the bank account...
CCP made sure not to include any documentation on these critical Shares in the game for some reason...

I would advise you to make the corporation on EVE Online, seeing how it requires next to no skill and you don't need to GÇ£wasteGÇ¥ your Dust SP on building for more members. Also you will have so much better control over the corporation mechanics, then you can just make your dust characters a director to control it consol side.
HereGÇÖs my recruiter link if you do decide to make an EVE account and manage your new found corporation from there.
Good Luck

Do It Bro. Make A Corp. A few months ago i was in the same situation you are in right now
the trick is to send mail to people after games telling them to join you.
The begining is the roughest part though. as NOBODY wants to join an empty corp
even if they could be that last piece of a cheese on a corporate burger

Edit: As Lt Royal said below, the EVE side of Corporation creation is much more advanced, and aside from the better controls an EVE created Corporation has more than Double the capacity for invites, which means you can have more players in an EVE created Corp than a Dust one, but you can transfer the control to Dust afterwards. With an EVE side corp management provider you can boost your corporation's potential size above +5000. So basically, it's a bit more than the number of active players on Dust at any given time.

I'd say join another player corp, make a lot of friends there, show them you're cool and a good leader. Then when you think you're ready, break off, make a corp, tell the friends you've made about it, and they may follow suit.

I'd say that the best way is to create a squad and act as squad leader for other players in pub matches, and then make sure you and your squad kick the snot out of the opposition and earn insane amounts of warpoints.
Then you suggest to your squadmates that you should create a corp together. They got to see for themselves how well you played together and thus makes the idea of starting up a new corp more attractive.
This was how I almost started my own corp a few times. It didn't happen though, on account of me being lazy. :P |

Nothing wrong with starting your own corp.
Once you have a core group 10-20 guys you can start stomping people in pubbies and fw and more will flock to join you. Most of those will be the casuals, the new players etc.
Casuals arent worth as much. New players that you can custom tailor to your needs are priceless. Yes it will take 2-3 months of development but generally they are yours forever once you do that.
Loyalty is earned. Once you have it your job is to keep and cultivate it into a force. |
