The stats of the CR make it OP. In battle, its insanely OP.
It will out dps a RR within 70m.
If its only counters are a need to carry a nanohive and not be engaged by an enemy further than 70m, then its OP. It trumps every catagory including the HMG. |

Yes I am talking about in one match, what do you think we would need multiple matches to do this? Absolutely not! Damn those rifles are surely OP!

I'd explain why you're wrong, but that'll take to long, and you'll just disagree with it. The CR is better than the AR in every category. If the only downside to the CR is you have to carry a nanohive, then it's not balanced.
The combat rifle is the most used gun in the game right now. Don't believe me? Stand in the MCC and just watch the killfeed. DUST players have a great habit of using FoTM, because FoTMs are FoTMs for a reason. The CR is being used the most because it is the best gun in the game. Not just best Light weapon, best GUN. If it was balanced, then people wouldn't be flocking to it like they are doing.

I see the rail rifle more often than the combat rifle.
The PC and SL should fit into the Sidearm slot so it's accessible and practical to carry one.

Stats? Then that would mean the HMG has to be even more OP with it's gigantic DPS. If that RR user within 70 meters is strafing quickly the CR user doesn't stand a chance. The fire rate of 1200 only applies to the space in-between the 3 rounds in the burst.
Oh wait that's right. Since both weapons don't always hit with every round, you can't compare it by stats alone. In actual combat the CR is very hard to fire continuously. If you press the button faster than the burst length you end up with a very irregular burst. It's nothing like the easy to use automatic weapons that only require you to press and hold a trigger while you watch someone's health drain away.
Also, the ACR has a gigantic disadvantage at distance, meaning that this weapon is even more balanced.

Incorrect. I own people with the combat rifle from 20-60 meters sure...but if someone can hit me from either longer range or closer range I just don't stand a very good chance. Also, a player with 400+ shields can easily counter a CR because of how much harder it is to chew through shields than armor.
Lastly, any heavy that dies by a combat rifle at <30 meters away is a noob. If anyone gets within my optimal while running my HMG they're dead plain and simple...unless there is 5 of them and I have no cover. Trying to kill HMG users with a CR OR ACR alone at close range is almost impossible. ____________________________________________
Final thoughts:
The CR is a good gun and has good balance with other weapons. Without damage mods it isn't able to kill effectively at long ranges, but it still excels at medium range. It has a large alpha if you can land headshots on unsuspecting players, but trying to fire it continuously requires skill to control the kick of the weapon that occurs when you do this.
I will say that in CQC the ACR is extremely effective and is almost like a heavy SMG...but since it is weak at long ranges and has quite a bit of kick I don't get upset by it.

I feel that any buffs to the MD need to be followed up with a drop in AoE. The MD is UP in the sense that it's DPS is so much lower than other weapons, but it's AoE (especially on the assault) more than makes up for that as a support weapon. As a DPS weapon, it's UP. But as a support weapon, I feel it's OP. Kinda confusing distinction, but one I feel should be made. Here's the math on which I base my opinion on their AoE, it's an old thread of mine from a month or three ago. However, as it it, it's not too terribly bad.
It's not made to be a DPS weapon (meaning it's not supposed to straight out DPS other weapons), it's made to be a support weapon (it's role is to support your team by softening up enemies or finishing softened targets behind cover), and plenty of people put it to good use in that role. It's people who use it to try to go head to head with a DPS weapon that get slaughtered. That's like putting a DPS weapon on a scout and trying to go head to head with an assault with a DPS weapon, the scout's just not built for that. Neither is the Mass Driver.
TL;DR: Not every weapon is meant to be a "slayer" weapon.

Standard CR is a burst fire weapon, meaning you need serious skill to outperform a AR in CQC. That is its balance - Get in close and its much harder for them to take you down faster then you can even with a pistol.
The Assault CR is incredibly accurate and fires at a phenomenal rate of 1200 rpm. Meaning if you pull the trigger and your not on target you will waste your clip so fast you may as well have taken the magazine out and threw it at them.
In short they are balanced. If your being taken out then it was down to being in their optimal range / conditions or by sheer player skill. Far more skill at least than the AR requires

I don't think it's OP, it's deceptive though due to its bonus to armor. When you first start getting hit you mentally gage how much fire you can sustain and are use to armor reducing slower due to the AR and SCR. The CR flips that and it feels like you die suddenly once your shields are drained.
The RR is the one that is catching me off guard the most. " is he really shooting at me from way over there? f'kin n00...oh sheit!"

I like threads like this tbh. It makes people look away from my SCR and gives the "SCR is OP" threads a rest in the back seat. Lord knows I've seen my fair share of those.
On topic, I kind of like the diversity on the battlefield now, especially with the new rifles. As frustrating as they may be to deal with and as much as they fill up the kill feed now, I don't think they are remotely close to being OP. They just require you to step up your FPS situational awareness. They each have their strengths and weaknessess and if you are smart, you can make them slip up. Good strafing while firing and distance can mess up a CR users aim.

That will only end up with Rifles being to weak. No, only some niche weapons need a touch up.

I pretty much stopped reading after the suggestion that you can beat an HMG at <30m. Maybe before the hotfix to the HMG, but not now. I forgot briefly about that fix and paid for it - in a span of about 2 seconds.

The fact that you said the CR trumps the HMG in it's role shows you're an idiot. The only things that trump the HMG are range & 4-5+ guys shooting at you at the same time (at least 3 of which will die to the HMG before you fall).

They're both Minmatar weapons. One is a heavy weapon with 425 bullets before reloading and one is a light weapon with 42 bullets before reloading.
It may look OP on paper, but if you know how to counter it, it doesn't matter.

My initial feeling for the CR was that it excelled in mid-range combat but suffered in CQC. I even found it harder to use close up than semi-autos like the ScR for some reason. But this might just be that I'm not used to strafing with a burst fire weapon like the CR. |

CR is bad CQC.
You can kill with it but it's not comfortable. It's not as fluid as an AR. Even the full auto has issues in CQC. SMGs are the better choice within 20 m. The ROF on the full auto makes it not at all forgiving if you miss.
It works in CQC but it by no means is a comfortable choice.

i beg to differ on the speed of fire . i can remove several people before i have to reload .
but i practice this thing called fire discipline. in comparison the GEK has longer range .
assault combat rifle half way between subby and assault rifle.
which is a good place to be it has none of the drawbacks and all of the benefits if thats what they went for they have it |
