There was tankspam, so I used a forge gun(militia, I'm spread a bit too thin to spec into them earnestly right now) It didn't earn me personally one tank kill. however, there was wonderful teamwork happening. I was just steering them into piles of remote explosives.
Much exploding happened. So, what did I learn: Tank killing now takes a modicum of coordination, even if it's just "hey, a teammate made a trap, well, I'll just funnel the guys into it then." not some huge strategy, not a massive undertaking. Just two people, working in minor coordination to kill about 6-7 tanks.
I'll probably be eating the things for breakfast as soon as I start really speccing into forges, which comes after assault derpships.
If you hear the words "WORTH IT!" look about, something hilarious just happened.

Several of them did. even activated them. I then proceeded to hide my gigantic ass from them until they got frustrated and got out to kill me, shot one of them in the dink with the forge gun at point blank. or in one case, just worked with the rest of my team since they wised up and started hucking flux grenades. while I kept it's shields from regening.

Yeah, those guys we killed were doing so well until they backed over a pile of RE's because a single heavy with a MLT forge gun hit them twice.

Duh. Unless you're one of those FOTM players spamming MLT tanks. then your odds of survival increase exponentially once you're out since that's where all your skill points are.
Which, for the record is all that I was fighting, MLT tanks. there was not a single real tanker in that match. I'm certain a real tanker would have been much tougher to lead into the same trap 3 times.

I disagree while I tend to die with my tank in public matches in PC I do whatever is necessary I have killed multiple swarmer's this way only once did it cost me my tank which was on fire anyway. Leaving your tank is generally stupid but if you know you can take him and there are no other enemies why not.

Or MLT tanks, or anything short of a bricktanked prototype heavy, really anything that responds to a sudden, massive spike of damage with one of two responses:"run" or "die"
Forges are quite good at eliciting either response from their targets.

No when you have no one to cover your butt. Heavies are WAY too easy to drop.Dying in less than 2-3 secs to anything. You need good infantry backup to effectivley AV. you dont need anything to effectivley tank. There by, my point.

Are you high? even my "solo hero" fits have over 1k ehp, reps, and I can dance like a scout You need a better heavy suit
Not entirely. the first time the guy got exploded I was miffed because I lost out on my kill, the other times it was just oh lookey, tank, WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-THUMP WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-THUMP, and then they run away, and by keeping them off my team, I have effectively disabled them, performing my role, solo. It's not all about killing. Just like point defense, you don't have to kill everything, just keep them off the point.
If you want to effectively tank, you want infantry to take the points, SD's, and to kill the AV'ers.
There, all your points refuted.

I would agree with you if HAVs had to be like Voltron and need multiple skilled pilots to operate. As it sits right now, HAVs are John Rambo with explosive arrows.
I still can't find tanks on the market. All I see are those HAVs.

Nah. I'm pretty sure I actually lost money. I did spend a short stint as my assault HMG fit though. god those things are just worthless. sure, they've got a tiny amount of better range, but that loss in power is just too much.
Still better than losing a single tank. as mine cost around half a mil with current prices.

The "true purpose" of this post is that tankers are better at AV than most people who claim the title of it. Probably because I was AV back in chrome, so I'm used to AV being an actual job on the field instead of "Swap fit, instagib tank, lol, swap back to proto-AR and resume stomping"

An instant or very short time period conversion of an entity in a game to "gibs" or chunks of what it used to be, popularized in... I believe it was unreal tournament where they used gibs to describe the meat chunks you could blast people into.
Or maybe it was quake?
What's next, you tell me I killed your father and that I should prepare to die?
If you hear the words "WORTH IT!" look about, something hilarious just happened.

So your saying that people should use a MLT FG as opposed to the weapon that they spent 4-5+ million SP on?
We finally deployed in the MinFW Match!

no, I'm saying that AV is now a job, not a coat(something you do, not something you just throw on when you need to) If you've got better, use it. I used a MLT forge because that was the best infantry portable AV I had access to.

No. An embolism killed my father.
Not that anything in Dust gibs. The way Dust runs, the closest one can get to an instagib is a one shot kill. No single weapon instagibs any HAV in Dust.
I still can't find tanks on the market. All I see are those HAVs.

Militia Forge on Skinweave heavy with a complex damage mod and enhanced armor rep. Costs about 20k per fitting. Good against no skill crap tactic pilots. Almost useless against a pilot with a modicum of common sense and a basic ability to think tactically.
