1) Spawned tanks should have a limit per team, per match type. 2 per team sounds about right no matter the game. Once someone gets like 2 or 3 they are pretty much unstoppable already but keeping it to two leaves some hope.
2) There should be a "no rush" for tanks of 5 minutes. This "who can get tanks out the fastest" has ruined domination and ambush. Ruined it. I used to LOVE ambush in 1.6. Now that love is gone. 5 minutes is enough to build traction and get to some turrets before it's too late. Having a tank come out and destroy 75% of map turrets in less than 60 seconds is nonsense
3) Get rid of points for destroying uncaptured turrets. They are the only things that can stop tanks besides other tanks but you still get morons with their militia tanks destroying much needed turrets. I'm fed up with my own teamates taking out perfectly useful turrets and then getting their tanks destroyed by the enemy and now no other defense exists from them.
4) Stop spawning me near enemies please! You have to fix that. There should be at least 400 meters between an enemy and myself at all random spawns (i.e. pressing TRIANGLE). It's ridiculous that an entire map exists but I have to be dropped on top of an enemy that is already kicking my butt.
5) There should be a point deficit for camping outside spawn points and killing people. You should get half of the points or none if you kill a spawned character within 3 or 5 seconds of spawning. This means that if it is tactically important to kill the character than it shouldn't matter because it is for the greater good. There should be incentive to deystroy spawn points or hack them.
6) You should increase the shield recharge delay on tanks a little. It's ridiculous that I have to keep throwing AV grenades so a blaster turret can deal any kind of damage but then a one second or two second gap happens and they have shields again.
7) Turrets should have way more health. It should be competitive, if not superior, to the tanks. It's ridiculous that a rail gun structure can go out in three hits but it takes the same rail gun 5 or more to take out a tank at times. IMO Turrets should be automatically PROTO or tier 2.5.
8) drop uplinks should have a "scanner" type ability or a danger level where it can be yellow or red to indicate that it is a high risk spawn point. This will also force the dumber players to use the flank spawn points instead of running into the front of the fire fight. I also say this to elminate the campers that stand next to a clone station and wait for people to spawn b/c they know we are stupid enough to do it. It isn't often but sometimes they just sit their and try to clone you out. It's annoying and plain not fun.
9) for coolness value there should be a weak spot to tanks. Like a portion where you can grenade a piece of armor out and then just blast away at the fuel tank or something. |

Now in response to OP I agree with most of your points. The exceptions being 6,8, and 9.
6) I don't want to go in depth but infantry could handle 2 tanks (your proposed amount tanks)
8) A work around: A) reintroduce uplinks that self destruct on the owners death, or B) Stick remotes on your uplinks lol.
9) Tanks already have week spots in which they take very large amounts of extra damage. On Galente tanks it's located on the back in the center. On caldari tanks on the back on what looks like a couple batteries to me. They are tough to hit with swarms and AV grenades but plasma cannons and forges work.

I agree with the general thrust of your Post.
DUST 514 Patch 1.7 should have been called "World of Tanks"
Seriously, I've deleted all my Proto AV fits because they are worthless. I recently put three full flights of Proto swarm launchers AND three Lai Dai Packed AV grenades into a tank that had it's resistance amplifier on cool down and was not able to destroy it before it got away, repaired (in less than 30 seconds) and came back to kill me with a couple of blaster rounds
A standard-level tank, surviving everything a complete Prototype AV fit character can throw at it seems off. Maybe this is the intended direction of the game. But consider the fact that the previous situation was a lone tank without other tank buddies or infantry backup. Add 2 or 4 other tanks all reinforcing each other and a squad of infantry to back them up and I don't even get a chance to get a second swarm or grenade off before I'm dead.

6) I listed this suggestion with the mindset that if just one of these things could happen I would be happy. But it makes perfect sense that if number 1 is implemented not to implement this.
8) I like this. Self Destructing drop uplinks would be neat. It leads me into thinking about sabatoge equipment alltogether. You can have drop uplinks that explode when destroyed but don't actually work as uplinks. So people that get up close and shoot it would go away....for 10 seconds or so.
9) Have 4mil sp and didn't know about weak spots. Sigh. Thanks.

Do you mean the car or the old gun thing or what?
I guess it isn't so bad. Had a match where I saw a squad put down a bunch of hives and ambushed a tank bad over and over again. Unfortunately, it was on the opposing team but i'm gonna steal that idea.
I did try an experiment where I nanohived myself some AV's and tried a solo ambush but I literally have not put anything into grenades so I likely need more powerful ones to make that work out. |
