It's not enough to have an fps shooter with no fiscal responsibility. As a matter of fact I wanted to look at other FPS games and as I did, someone said that exact thing. No wonder we all get so heated about what happens in matches. We feel that in our imaginary wallets that we all believe are real. I was thinking this game looks good and that game has cool features.
BUT, this is just so darn close to being what I want in a game because of the people in it. I get to make little side bets and wagers. I get to create games in game! If I don't want to run around and kill stuff all day I can change it up and logi. Or fly! how many times has having a dropship paid off big time in large maps? For me if we had a dropship we were guarenteed a good chance.
When I started playing I was getting proto stomped and not understanding WTF was going on but my determination and looking at all the gear I could get into kept me on the hook.
Friends newberries like me made it fun we didn't know anything about the game or standing politics. I couldn't tell you who anyone was 7 months ago now I can bet on the match just by the names on the other side.
I like going back to my roots on my little 2.2 mil sp alt and remembering what it was like to get pwned. But honestly it's not like it was. I am way too smart to get in over my head. Which is what I see every new guy that comes into this game does. They think they can just Rambo it.
Dust just takes a bit of finesse and patience. That's what I am all about and that's why I like this game. It requires something I have and I feel good about it. Plus it is weeding out those who don't so I get to play with people I like now more often than not.
All the builds and guns agenda is whatever to me. I just do what it takes. And honestly it's not that anything is op or needs a buff. I just know what's going on and it's fun to kill people doing the same things I used to. Cause I know its coming they will take me to school when they figure this game out.
Anyway just wanted to say that stuff cause I'm liking dust.

I like the game. On paper it's a great game. I watch a DUST trailer and get inspired. Then I see things actually happen in game like the trailer cinematics depicted and get even more inspired.
Then, without fail... the game breaks down and I have to hard restart or quit for the session. |

I really like the concepts. I love them. Some of the ideas are great.
But...
Dust is so unstable. Lag occurs often (and no, it's not my connection), and lots of systems are finicky. Having to wait a while to recover the stamina to jump over one short step is silly.
There's also a distinct lack of content. It's the same three gamemodes with the same basic formula almost every match. FW is only marginally different, and PC is horribly laggy.

I have yet to play any other game where i can fly a vehicle like the ADS. The pirouettes and cartwheels I can put these things through just keep rail/forge shots form hitting me gets really hairy really quick. Seems everyone wants a piece after you dodge 3 shots masterfully. Live to fly, fly to live.
Unchecked dishonesty can promote the perception that one must cheat to remain competitive.

Thank you grease, its very nice to read an inspiring post for a change.
I can relate to what you said, I look at new games and see all the shiny stuff and think, hey that's neat, but all of them lack the substance of dust at the core. Yes dust does have its problems but then its a new born taking its first steps, its bound to fall and hurt its self but that's how we learn.
No other fps gets you so emotionally invested that you go on the forums and compose an essay about the game mechanics, I love that quality! Right when I started dust I knew what I was destined for, dropship piloting. It has been a rough road, dropships are very fragile and require an intense amount of concentration, skill, and experience. Not many games do dropships, and even fewer do them well and no other game gives me the thrill I get flying my python.
I'm very glad to hear you survived your trial by fire, you are an inspiration to all new berries that come to this game. Dust is not your average shooter, and if you come to the battle thinking you are rambo new eden will not be kind. Being humble, patient and mindful are all important lessons dust uses to train the cod out of a new berry, some don't survive the trial and go back to their old ways, however an exceptional few reach merchood, and I am happy to welcome another good merc to the fight.
Well done, I hope we have some good fights, with or against, or both  I like dust too. |
