Tucked away in a corner of the station, There's a party going. Lights are strung up absolutely everywhere, speakers set to play happy music, tables set with every imaginable drink and copious amounts of food, and some mysterious substance known only as "eggnog". What the hell is eggnog? what did someone do to that poor egg? nobody knows for sure, just that the drinking of this mysterious elixir is prescribed only during year end festivities.
The air seems chilled, and in some areas, snow appears to be falling, Some of the light is provided by a large bonfire burning over 15 feet high keeping the area around it warm.
A large banner is strung up proclaiming "Non-denominational year end party! Meet up with old friends, and chat with your enemies! No fighting."
"HEEEYY! Glad you could make it! Please check any weaponry over at the table with the gentleman in the vest, don't want this turning into some kind of bloodbath, ya'know?"
If you hear the words "WORTH IT!" look about, something hilarious just happened.

"Nah, everyone has a big year end celebration, but they're tied to religion, or tribal pride, or company obligation or somesuch. I figured we could all use one, but didn't want to start some big fight, so... this"
*Heathen motions towards the bonfire* "Sorry it's so cold, localized weather generators, and some bribes to the guys in maintenance so that it would snow, s'pretty warm anywhere near the giant fire. Have some drinks, have some food, sit a spell, it's supposed to be a party" *Heathen chuckles slightly after this last statement*

"Glad you could make it, and that is a very good question. Nobody really knows, some would say it's a jovian drink, others say it's the nectar of the gods. Personally, I just think it's odd that no matter how much booze you put in it it tastes exactly the same. which by the way is just plain terrible, but some people swear by it and I once drunk tank fuel on a dare. Which tastes like strawberries."

"the end of the year, Everybody has some kind of celebration for it with family, but since we're now mercenaries and technically have no families anymore, I figured that we're all one big family, so lets get everyone we can together for drinks, fun and possibly antics for a bit while we're not killing each other"
