So....yeah. Proto stomping. There are ridiculously wealthy corps running dedicated proto. It is impossible to enjoy matches where this is evident. My current solution is leaving battle. There has to be another. Any thoughts? |

The only solution is to find a good corp and protostomp thyself.
Sounds good in concept, it is New Eden after all, but right now its mostly about setting up a pack of toddlers against a pack of wolves. One side will always stomp more than the other. |

Team work beats proto.... just aim for the head they die like everyone else. Also fw is a nice place to escape stomping seeing as though noone wants to be giving out proto gear to the bpo/militia enemy. |

yep...although it\s been brought up dozens of times.
their are 100's of ways to deal with proto suits if you are an experienced player just whining about proto's learn one of them.
if you are a new player, well the only choice is to join a corp and squad up, and learn how to deal with them, it will take time, but if you are squading up with good players you'll find your self in between scenario's more times then not. |

Yeah, we all (most of us) got stomped pretty good at first but I suspect it is probably worse now, even with the academy. I suggest you join a corp, most will be quite helpful to new members and help you learn the ropes. Being in a good squad is the best protection you can get from protostompers.
Also, you can join Gallente faction warfare. That's the closest thing to a free win in Dust at present.

I agree it's a mess until you figure out what you're up against. You've played all the maps. Find a spot with a Nanohive nearby and fire away. There's always a place to be that they can't / won't care to reach. Of course you'll probably get hit by an orbital but it's worth it in the long run. Having something that can take them out in 1-2 shots helps. GL |

OP, your problem is twofold most likely.
A new player doesn't have access to as much of the gear as an older player, yet there are still things that can be done. Douchebag tip number 1: Always stack damage mods, no matter your ability with them even if they are just militia. Douchebag tip number 2: BPO/Starter fits are cheap. Douchebag tip number 3: A logibro can heal you or rez you if the going gets tough, find a squad with a logibro and stick with him.
Secondary in importance is the skills needed to get the damage you see coming from the older players. A player of 10-15mil SP will likely be able to field a proto suit as well as a proto weapon. On top of being able to use it the merc probably also has Proficiency skilled in their weapon of choice to at least 4 if not 5. This gives a large boost to dps from said weapon even if they are not using a proto weapon, the effect is just larger when they do. Getting your core skills (armor, shields, electronics and engineering) up will also help you survive longer. In addition to this consider getting complex damage mods asap. The mods are faster to get than the proficiency in the weapon of your choice so do that first, they affect all Light/Sidearm/Heavy weapons provided you equip the right damage mod.
Good luck

Skill into advanced uplinks. Fit them onto a cheap suit with a nice assault/combat rifle (the assault CR tears up any sort in a matter of seconds) p, and drop one as you enter the match.
Find where he protos are, and drop another uplink behind or aflank of them.
One of two things will happen: either your team will spawn in on your uplinks and die horribly, or your team will spawn in and use the moment of surprise to wipe a squad or two out before they die horribly. The great thing is is that you get to profit either way.
In short, if you can't fight them head-on, adapt by shaping the battle to your advantage. Little tricks can make big outcomes.
Dedicated Commando.
So it's a good job KDR doesn't bother me, really.

Easy ways to deal with proto- Scout with profile dampeners, scanner and a shotgun (Any type). Surprise from behind Distant Forge gunner (wait for them to stand still, they always do) Remote explosive packed LAV, drive it full speed toward enemys, jump out, ignite. Never fails Soma with scanner and hardener, practically invincible And lastly, Height advantage and cover; use them to your advantage |

How to not get protostomped
1.) Squad up. - Use local chat, use squad finder, find a corp with good players you like and squad regularly. Running solo is a good way to lose games.

A simple solution would be tiered matches like a basic match only allowing militia and basic gear.

1: Not all the gear anyone fits on a suit is all the same meta level
2: Smaller groups of mercs going into the battles, where before you would have 16v16, now you may be stuck with 8v10-15 just because there aren't enough mercs running the battles in gear of your choosing

Hello there, Divu. It's been a long time since players like myself who started at Dust at the May release (or even earlier), "GROUND" our way out of the Battle Academy and into the wide-open battle options in the game. At the time we were playing, you couldn't even unlock from the Battle Academy until you had earned over 10,000 WP (yes, ten THOUSAND). There is an argument among us that CCP should re-instate the LONGER Battle Academy process in order that Newberrys can better learn how to defeat the "I've got a better weapon/shield than you!" harassment that intimidates new or advancing players. It takes a long while to figure out on your own that the easiest thing for whipping "one proto merc with lvl-5 HMG" is... FOUR Newberrys carrying broken bottles. No, I'm not crapping you... I'm serious. Now that at least seven months have passed, the reason why I will never feel "pub-stomped" in the game is because I (and a collection of players way better than me) make ISK every day by leaving our expensive proto-gear at home, and just running around assisting every nearby merc with ambushes, assisted-kills, and assisted-hacks. To this day I'm jumping into the matches with the same dropsuit/guns they gave us when we first started the game, and the only money-making plan I have is make sure "that blue merc over there whom you've never met" doesn't run across the map by himself. We should always accept the fact that if an HAV is coming, we have to run from it. But if it's a proto-heavy we bump into as we turn the corner, from HIM we don't run. We take him from more than one angle simultaneously, and peel him down with the right militia weapons.
A lot of the suggestions posted here to grab an HAV (because right now they are at discount-price, and amphetamine-laced) are, um... "okay" options. Joining a really good squad or corp is VERY hard as an option, because it's like finding a good dentist... they don't have a track record you can check before you try them out. But I think (in fact, I'm SURE) CCP wants to encourage you to use the method I and other seasoned players have learned....DO NOT OPERATE ALONE on the map, operate in impromptu groups.
More and more of us seasoned players TRIED (unsuccessfully) to use the CHAT CHANNELS and Warbarge lobbies to set up "Practice/learning Squads". Now we've been setting them up in the Factional Warfare section.
"Learning Coalition" is the chat channel that appears to be getting the best reputation. When one of us creates a squad on that channel, try it out. Different squadleaders have different specialties/vehicles, so try and you may find you're a natural at HAV turret-gunnery, etc. If that squad-leader isn't actively teaching/coaching/helping you in the fight, don't join his squad again... coaching and preserving Newberry lives is what the Learning Coalition channel is SUPPOSED to be about. Not a corp, not fanatical elite-ist squading, just "learning".
Myself, my specialty is dropship, so I run groups that want to learn how to use a DS as your back-up. Hope to see you players...! Especially if you're new. |

a limit of ADV gear in pub matches,l until we have enough players for tiered pub matches, or untill match making is fixed but I think thats a player quantity problem as well.
also teircide on suits, a reduction in module bonus to closer to how it is in eve(this is a shooter mmo why is their a larger tier difference then a full fledged rpgmmo) between a 25-35%increase instead of a 200%increase, and light/med/heavy modules all of which can be cross fit but work "best" for the intended suit size(this would require a buff to heavy PG/CPU to work right, and I really dont know how it would be worth while for light suits but meh.) |

yea battle academy should stay an OPTION until players are making an average WP/match or crossed a certain number of matches above a WP threshold. this would also allow vets to stay in the academy as NPIs. |

If you're stuck by yourself, here's my suggestion:
Level 1 Nanohive Level 2 Locus grenades (packed) Militia Light frame suit Profile Dampeners
Sneak up behind them and toss a cooked grenade or two in their midst.
Your under 10,000 Isk militia suit just took out their 100,000+ Isk proto.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
