Hello,
Only this scanner has the term proximity in it? Can anyone explain what if anything it does differently from a normal active scanner? thanks

PROXIMITY Active Scanner... Reading the desciption won't tell you that, and the statistics leave out special effects (Nothing in Railgun stats tells you that it does extra damage to vehicles, for example, this might have something really cool)...
Save your SP, maybe? Either way, having Proto Active Scanners is a good thing. Or, get an alt. Maybe you have a logi friend? Either way, find that out and update us. :)

Basically, with Proximity in the name it seems it may have a constant on special effect of scanning passively or something. I guess we will see in a month or so...

Maybe. Tell you what, when I get back from my vacation, I'll be skilling into MANY things. This is my list:
-Boundless CBR
-Boundless Assault Mass Driver
-Commando A/1-Series
If I still have SP left after that, I'll put it towards Active Scanning. However, if I DONT have enough SP for it, instead of grinding some more, I'm going to put it into Core Skills. It's fine though, IIRC I had around 500k when I left, aobut a week ago, and I'll be getting back home around New Year's Eve.
By the way: Are you the one I sent ISK too? Or did I send it to the wrong person?

The "advantage" of this scanner is that it is very quickly refreshed. You need only wait 6 seconds between consecutive scans. However, as of 1.7 you can no longer put the scanner away by sprinting/switching weapon, so that means you're vulnerable for whole 4 second scan time whenever you use it. Since illumination time is only 5 seconds, this scanner is a poor choice. Use the Duvolle Quantum instead. |

So, it sounds like a pile of proto junk. It does noting special correct by just having ot out and not scanning? Correct. Thanks in advance.
