And not the next full expansion? You all have your wishlists but its far too much for a simple point update. Its been what, 6-7 months since uprising dropped so its about that time CCP.

if it was on a 6 month cycle wouldnt we have it already?
I figure the next full expansion will be May as a 2.0 reboot of the game.
then again who knows with CCP. Still waiting for the gun rig system that was promised and apparently coded for December 2012. |

Did they ever truly say they would give that to us? I wasn't around last December so I wouldn't know, but I don't think they'll do that yet...

They need to make gun fitting separate from and as customizable as dropsuits.

If you check the weekly updates, they mention fixes for things coming in 1.8
So, it's fairly safe to assume the next build will be 1.8

No you kill this blueberry hacking the CRU we are camping. I already killed the last 2.

Updates might not be publicized until a week or so before launch, but expansions are usually publicized at least a month prior. They're probably either not doing expansions anymore, OR they're doing what EVE used to do in the past: annual expansions.

The pile of garbage looks nicer.

I think what we are looking at is the result of a developer focusing all they have to bring the game into a workable state, delaying the first bi-annual expansion in favor of immediate month to month fixes.
Spending six months and most of the available man hours on an expansion is a risky investment when the resulting lack of short term fixes could aswell kill the game in the mean time.
How long ago, if at all yet they returned to longer term schedules with bigger features is to be seen.

if there was a full expansion at anytime it would have a name and not a number, it would also be pre-empted by videos and dev posts.
seeing as the game is still missing some basic content such as racial variants on some items then no official full expansion is likely to happen. i expect many more of these mini expansions we have come acustom to for a long time to come

Nope, thats not how patch numbers work.
Take 1.7 for example. That is not the decimal 1.7 but encoded version information. It stands for version 1 update 7.
Once you start thinking about it that way you realize that after version 1 update 9 the next step is version 1 update 10, or 1.10, not 2.0
Updating the version to 2 would come with either a major code change to the game (adding pve might qualify), or the next time they do a full expansion, which they won't do until they stop the monthly patch cycle for a while.
I would love if CCP had only part of the staff working on these monthly updates while others worked on some longer term features, but I'm not actually expecting that. I think they have to many things they need to get out asap (more racial everything) to hold it for a summer expansion.

CCP has basically said they've switched to a monthly update cadence in order to attend to the problems/complaints with the current expansion. Right now I'm not expecting anything more than a 1.8 and then a 1.9 afterwards. CCP Shanghai simply has too few people working on DUST right now to shoulder the responsibility of both monthly updates AND an expansion.
I think the next biggest thing we'll see for DUST is the introduction of PvE, probably as part of some expanded New Player Experience. Whether that will constitute an Uprising 2.0, or some unheard-of expansion, I'm not sure, but I doubt we'll see it for months yet. We'll probably need to wait until Fanfest to hear anything. |

I think it's more likely that they've assigned teams to work on a new expansion while others work on the point releases. The only new content we've gotten since Uprising 1.0 was Commando suits and the two new Rifles - at least as far as Content Design is concerned. Level Design seems ongoing, which is cool.
From an art standpoint, their artists have -got- to be losing their minds if they're not already working on things (which they are, we've seen a screenshot of the Amarr Scout). There's a bunch of re-textures for the W.A.R Kits and pre-fitted aurum stuff. Re-textures aren't that hard to do when you have a base render so speculation says that they're probably shelving stuff until Game Design can work with it.
