In a game the scale of this one, especially if said scale is planned to increase as the game grows, it doesn't make a lot of sense to limit how far you can sprint before having to let your "stamina" "recharge".
I think the stamina is a great way to counteract melee-spamming and bunny-hopping, but I don't think sprint should be tied to it with how much sprinting is necessary just to get from one place to another.

But suits have one more thing you seem to have ignored.... SPEED of the sprint you desire to make infinite. If i move 1m/s sprint and you move 6m/s sprint how is that fair to me? You'd kill faster get to objectives faster, and flee easier in dangerous situations. Anf if speed was equal, everyone would run sentinels for the armor. |

Nothing constructive on the topic, troll detected. And i'm sure the insane speed boost to tanks has nothing to do with everyone spamming them. Take your arrogance elsewhere, i've seen scouts take out 4-5 players with the current system using 2 things their sprint and a shotgun. Infinite sprint would horribly tip the balance in favor of light suits. |

Just because you disagree does not make it a troll post. A scout can't outrun a bullet, so unlimited running ability won't make them OP; they would still be very easy to kill anyway. A shotgun scout will only be deadly if you don't see them coming, and if you don't kill them before you get close; this will not change. The fact that you've seen a scout take out 4-5 players is irrelevant considering an assault or logi can get a double digit kill streak.

In any case, having played the game all the way through the Closed Beta and playing it and watching others play it now, the sprint limitation is silly.
I doubt that making such a change would have any profoundly damaging effect on game balance, since "balancing" assets by their sprint duration is equally silly.

I agree with the premise.
Here we are, thousands of years in the future with interstellar travel, massive space ships, and suits that can protect a user from a Forge Gun direct hit, plasma and lasers...
And somehow, the suit can't make running a less stamina-consuming endeavour.
And here we are, thousands of years in the 'past', and have REAL world military technology that is functional and under development, and can do just that... |

I agree, so have a +1.
To everyone against it, AND to the OP, because he may or may not know why this makes sense:
We're able to walk and sprint at such speeds because we're not actually running. Our muscles/bones ASSIST the dropsuit, but the only reason we can do anything with such power (Melee), or such speed (Walk/Sprinting 10m in half a second?), is because we have pistons and motors moving us, wired to our brain. Basically, we tell the motors what to do, and they do it. While we COULD run using our own body*, we use the machines instead.
*If unlimited sprint were to be a thing, there should be a sprint boost that would raise sprint speed by a VERY small amount, and drains stamina. This would be like us making the machine AND our bodies work harder.

Like who? The fatties? They are carrying nearly half-ton of gear and armor with well over a thousand rounds of ammo for the HMG. I don't think there is any technology that is compact enough to give out unlimited sprinting with that kind of gear even 20,000 years in the future.
Oh by the way, for those who bring up the whole 20,000+ years in the future thing, consider the following...
According to the New Eden lore, mankind regressed technologically back into the middle ages shortly after the collapse of the Eve gate which plunged us a world of no technology for thousands of years. That could explain why we are not so perfect yet. It took us a long time to catch up with what we lost.

:L I have to disagree, I...as a Minmatar Assault, have a hard time already killing off skilled scouts. If they have an infinite sprint time, then all they have to do is increase their hacking speed, and have the map owned within just a few minutes. And if anyone tries to re-take it, they will manage to, bu again...that same scout could just run on by again in the next 30 seconds and retake it directly after it has been captured. Infinite sprint for heavies would be a bit dangersou too, as a few of the players actually layer their heavies to be runners(shall I mention they want a Minmatar Heavy Dropsuit?). Either way, the unlimited sprint would make a huge difference. Again, if you want to move really fast, get somewhere fast, and not worry about your stamina, get an LAV. It's not hard to call one in, and it doesn't even cost much to lose it either, ESPECIALLY if you have a blueprint. Most of the heavies in the game use LAV's, and most scouts rely on their sprint. If the sprint had no limitations to it, it could really upset some things in the game. -1 in my opinion, and I don't think this is a troll post if anyone claims me to be saying that, I just think the person who started the thread thought it was a great idea, just didn't think it through entirely. Edit: Oh, and if a scout puts a ton of kinetic catalyzers on their suit, and can run forever, you're going about 11 m/s at proto. The maps only get as big as 800. YOu do the math, and see just how fast a scout can go from redline to redline with infinite sprint.
Your face is something to shoot, so I will shoot. Don't be offended, I do it to everyone.

Actually, there's many things that I'd love to have to make more use of the dropsuit concept. Why can't we get jump jets, for example? Or the ability to grab ledges? Or make sprint infinite only for scouts. This would be some nice variety. I'm also eagerly awaiting cloaking. I wonder how it will work. |

Do you really want a scout chasing you forever? Plus we are human clones, therefore we tire just like humans. The limited stamina created a need for Lavs and needs to be added into game tactics eg. how long will it take me to run that 200m?
