CPM Team...
Was curious if I can get your personal thoughts and what your percpetions are of CCPs future actions in regards to the remaining BPOs in the game.
I've dropped a thread in the Feedback/Requests section that outlines a possible way ahead and would appreciate your thoughts. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=130765&find=unread

I think that would be a big step in the right direction. |

Here's hoping this actually happens, because infinitely duplicating and never exhausting items causes a slow, cold, death for any game.

Even EVE has a free ship. It just sucks. Free suits have to exist in some capacity, though perhaps not to the degree that DUST BPOs do. I guess forcing BPO play back to the starter fits would be the endgame, though those of us who invested heavily into BPOs would need to be compensated somehow. Indian giving doesn't work well for microtransaction games.
As it is, CCP just took away three of my vehicle module BPOs last patch.

I am at an impass on the entire subject.
I really don't want them removed.
However I don't want them providing items straight into combat without game play involved (ie you do something for it to make that item) however that distinction is going to be the most problematic to solve. Outside of the starter fits (which IMO needs to get reworked and updated with the new gear)
Ultimately if time was pressing and the need of removal from combat came first I would have done to it as done to BPOs in eve that are no longer valid. 0 out the skill requirements making it invalid to fit until such time it can be used to manufacture by us or eve pilots.
I am against removal of special BPOs from inventories (skinweaves, guristas, tribute suits ect ect) however regular militia modules that where purchasable in the market I would allow the removal of at a refund if it became necessary to remove the entire module line in the process.

I don't think manufacturable BPOs are really the same things we bought, really. They'd be completely different items. I kinda think it'd be okay to replace the BPOs if players were not given AUR back (we wanted the items, not the AUR), but a unique skin instead. If they make cosmetic items possible, those who have old BPOs should get unique ones, not purchasable by others.

As far as the dropsuits go transforming them into vanity skins might be nice but doesn't solve what you do with other items. Additionally, I have feeling that would be a significantly more complex coding than just making them a non-equipable item that generates X amount of items per week. |

Honestly I feel that any current BPOs that we own right now should remain untouched. After all, there are no more entering circulation and their impact will probably not be noticeable.
However, I wouldn't mind CCP introducing permanent BPOs like in Eve Online that require in-game materials to produce suits, weapons, modules, and vehicles. But these BPOs will need to be NPC seeded costing only ISK just like Eve Online and have a balanced bill of materials.
For example:
An SCR BPO would require 10 units of a planetary interaction (PI) material such as base metals, 10 units of reactive metals, 10 units of felsic magma, etc. with an available NPC factory to mass produce. To help reduce the bill of materials, BPO can be researched just like in Eve Online so that it's production time and material cost reduce. Faction standings should help as well.
What do you guys think?
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

Honestly, adding manufacturing to DUST would be pretty complicated, and I'm not fond of it. Anything done for DUST manufacturing would be a poor copy of the complexity of EVE's system.
I think that EVE players manufacturing suits and vehicles for DUSTies is one of the ways the link should progress in the future. DUSTies should be able to gather some of the materials through PvE, however, once that exists.

There is already a well established manufacturing process in EVE, I don't see the point of introducing one to Dust too, we are mercenaries after all, our role in the manufacturing process should begin and end with our being paid to liberate infrastructure, materials or real estate for the use of our client. |

This right here. EVE Players get the BPO's and create the items is my vote
