I am a Gallente armor tanking logi, apparently it's the new thing, I don't follow these FOTM trends so I'm interested in a more mobile shield tanking suit like Caldari. When armor got their buff it was both a decrease to speed penalty (me like) and HP buff (me thought unnecessary). I propose shields get a buff of their own in the form of an HP increase. In our low TTK environment it is imperative that those who wanted to remain highly mobile shield tankers be able to take more than 3 shots. I don't want a big buff, but I feel with the unnecessary recharge penalty there should be some sort of compensation. The shield vs. armor balance is not only important for keeping every suit useful, but also every weapon (I think we'd see more laser rifles if there were more shield tankers).

I agree, I can run basic armor plates on my proto suit and still have a meaty ehp but it's pointless to run any shield extender other than complex on my suit. I also thing the recharge penalty should have been tiered like the speed penalty.
I think they are trying to find a way to making pure shield or armor tanking advantageous over brick tanking, and if they aren't, they should be.

To be fair though, most of the Caldair proto suits I see try to brick tank as opposed to purely shield tank last a bit longer but don't do much better than a pure armor tank. What they'd be best suited for is getting in and out of cover from longer ranges, letting the quick recharge make their suits more effective in short bursts.
In theory: Gallente- Slow, high armor, high damage, close range stand up. Caldari- Faster, high shield. highly mobile, long range hit and run. Amarr- Dual tank, but less slots in favor of higher base HP. Prefers armor to compliment base speed. Minmatar - Dual Tank, more slots and speed making the base more flexible but overall weak. Prefers shields to complement base speed.
