I was just in a match where I put 12 volleys of my prototype swarm launcher into a militia tank. 12 in a row... I do not care if it was a basic tank, or prototype tank, or officer tank, or a f*cking battle cruiser. Anything that gets 12 continuous shots into it needs to be destroyed.
Lets do the math:
200/rocket * 6 rockets = 1200 per volley. Plus 3 Complex Light Damage Mods, I think the stacking penalty makes it a total of 21% 1200 * 0.21 = 1452 per volley 1452 *12 = 17,424
That's 3x the total HP the Soma had in raw HP.
Oh, plus I threw 3 packed AV grenades on it.
It had one hardener(I'm assuming MLT) and one rep.
Does anybody have any idea how hard it is to get 12 f*cking shots off on a tank and have them all hit, because you OUTPLAYED the tank, and the 15 other enemy infantry?
I'm not even going to get into the games where I put 10-12 rounds of a FG into Militia tanks and couldn't destroy them.
CCP, its no secret that I personally hate every one of you. That's a reason I didn't play against/with you in the Dev Invasion, because I can't stand you being in the game. What were you thinking during this buff/nerf? Seriously, what goes through your head? I understand that balance is one thing, but you do things that simply do not make any sense to anyone. With all the things that needed balancing in this game, like Heavies, Scouts, the rest of the racial content, etc. Why did you decide to work on HAVs? What REAL tankers really wanted was sh*t to be fixed. Like rendering and hit detection, and LOCKS for f*ck sake.
It's your game, so you can build it however you'd like. But since we have more experience in FPS than everyone at CCP put together, you'd think we'd have a say, since we stuck it out this long and since you apparently can't get this game off the ground to save your lives. Maybe this thread will get deleted, or you'll try to ban me again like you have so many times to me in the past, because controlling propaganda is all you seem to be good at. But before you fire anymore programmers, please take a look at yourselves and get your act together and your head on straight.
If you're not going to fix tanks and revert them back to 1.6, then consider the following:
1. Increase the price. 2. Lower the capability of MLT HAVs. 3. Lower the vehicle cap in match to 5 total vehicles per side at the same time(including LAVs, HAVs, and DSes). 4. Add more types of vehicles, like actual STD, ADV, and PRO, not just MLT and STD. |

The only way to kill a tank is by using another tank.
Pull out a militia sica with 2 militia damage mods, and that soma would have got 3 shoted. |

A) I have killed tanks on my own before, it is possible, just difficult.
B) It works MUCH better when you have a partner, or two or three
C) What was the total time between your first volley and your last volley? My guess was it took you a good 2 or 3 minutes to land than many volleys and thus providing the tanker time to harden and rep...
D) As an avid AV player, I feel the balance is pretty good, I would caution CCP and The Players to not have knee jerk reactions but give it another week or two and see how the DUST settles.
E) Remember, things are never as good as they seem...but they are also never as bad as they seem.

Tanks are brutal. But I've seen 5 destroyed in a Dom by infantry working together. The only change I think CCP should make to tanks is the price. Make a militia tank cost 500k and a maxed tank cost 1.5 mil. Or don't. I like the challenge of blowing the b@st@rds up.

I've killed a few tanks on my own. none of them were people War Room people would see in a PC
It's not a knee-jerk reaction that a gunnlogi with 3 shield hardeners is indestructible. it took 2 med-frame AV and a proto forge gunner to take it down. after mowing down crowds of people defending an objective all on its own

well, aside from your belief that anyone with a differing opinion should be held at view as one with lesser intellect, I have to agree with you, to an extent. First, I would understand if these tanks were people who actually put a lot of sp and work into the tank, and actually made a fitting worthy of tanking, but most of these tanks are somas and sicas. calling the operators second-rate tankers, is an insult to second-rate tankers. Not even the minmatar would wipe their butts with these tanks, yet I have to break out full proto forge in a pub match to take you to half health, then you run away like a scared little girl. And what's worse, is I'm the guy who always gets shot at, and almost always goes negative fighting these. Then my squad notices and they're all like "Yo Derrith, why you going negative, step it up bro, I thought you were a beast!" Here's an idea, how about you pick up a forge and fight off five tanks, a dropship and some drunk redneck, let's see how well you do when the only help your blues and squad will give you is the "possibility" of ammo.

Here is the thing, i could see the FG nerf or vehicle buff to withstand them. Because the FG can engage infantry, it is common for players to have them equiped, then when they see a vehicle, they just redirect their fire towards it. Making it common for vehicles to be engaged and taken out by them. The swarm launcher on the other hand is lock-on only, so if a player has it equiped, he is unable to fire on any infintry. Because of this one fact, it is not common for a player to have it equipped. The swarm should have never been nerfed. It is literelly useless now, even with the 2 million sp i have into its skill tree.

Ccp buff/nerf every 2-3updates to control the sp majority of people follow trends in this games what's working now.i know for a fact there is more tank drivers then last build and their was more grenade throwers when contacts had 3 more flaylock and sidearm users duvolle TAC shooters just assault rifles its the scheme of the game imo =ƒæ¦=ƒæ¦=ƒæ+=ƒÿê |

Was in a domo last night with 7 enemy tanks on the field, my "REAL" tanker came in took out four before he fell to one of the "REAL" tankers on the other side. The problems are anyone can spam the cheap tanks and some do which ruins the game because the true better team may not win. And then after the game you get the smart ass GG mail. The "REAL" tankers are getting a bad rap here because they are associated with these vermon by choosing armour as their chosen skill path.
The number of tanks on the field is getting ridiculous, 7 enemy tanks in one match is just too much and it's getting out of hand. If they didn't nerf AV all to hell you wouldn't see as much of it, along with raising the price of tanks across the board. Another fix could be making a minimum SP investment of 750k-1mil to even run militia grade tanks. It's a vehicle and all vehicles should have an SP prerequisite.
I have taken down a couple tanks with my AV fits, moderately skilled into but when facing 7, by the time you get one tank ready to pop the other 5 or six take you out and your buddy who went AV with you, requiring no skill for survival by "said tanker" I am sorry but even the second rate tankers are spamming cause it's so cheap with no risk.
I miss the days when a "REAL TANKER" would drop an hav into battle. The tankers we all know that have millions of sp invested into them, the challenge of them being on the field, if you did take them out you knew you accomplished something and could swap gg mails after because it really was a good match and good kill. Now all that happens is these worms spawn in another super cheap tank and keep exploiting this garbage tactic.
To all the "REAL TANKERS" out there, some day CCP will give you the balance you asked for and you will again be able to roll your 1.5-2 mil isk death machines with pride because you earned it by working your asses off and I welcome the challenge of a good tank on the field. Until then you are surrounded by garbage players using a garbage tactic giving you bad rep.
A salute to the "REAL TANKERS" of this game, to the rest, meh, enjoy it now, when this gets fixed i'll see you back on the ground, and laugh when a "REAL TANKER" chases yor ass from one end of the map to another...

Doing fairly well with the swarmer actually, heavy is too slow for my playstyle never mind trying to outmaneuver these crazy fast tanks or run any distance for a killing blow, but some of my guys do very well with the forge.

sure taking down one tank or 2-3 is fun and challenging but when you got 3-4 madrugers and gunlogis and a python or incubus with the rest bieng miltia tanks that need 2 guys to take down each, it gets kinda over whelming and impossible. As soon as ur about to take one down, another comes up and mows ur whole squad down. When you try to bring your own REAL tank in to take out the other tanks, the freakin RDV wont drop the damn thing and the soma/sica sees it and blows it up and the cycle repeats till you are cloned
I can only please one person per day. Today is not ur day, tomorrow doesn't look too bright either.

I second Rip and Cyrax on this one. I used to love going against sick tankers with my A V fit. I remember when a tank needed to stick next to another tank or have a 1-3 man foot soldier escort in the open to keep the A V guys from ambushing them in transit? Hell, I remember when a tank actually had a use for a repairer. I remember I would have to hide along the common path of a tank with profile dampeners and hope I could get 3 volleys out by the time the first hit, because as soon as he knew I was there I was in trouble, but at least I thought I had a chance.
I went up against a descent tanker today, I had him at a disadvantage because I had a DS put me (with my proto swarm, lev 4 proficiency) and another proto swarm on a rooftop. The tank just parked in the middle of the road, taking at least 30 volleys combined between the 2 of us one after another (enough to deplete 2 K2 nanohives), and healed himself until he finally hit us. This douche went 30 - 0, and after the game I asked him if he though the 1.7 tanks were overpowered. He said no, he went 30 - 0 in 1.6 all the time too!!!! This guy actually thinks he is such an elite gamer that he can go 30 - 0 against anyone. I am literally beside myself with this last update. I used to love this game, but the bottom line is that if they don't nerf these tanks or re-buff the A V's, I'm done.

Just proto'd my swarmer last night and have prof lvl 4. Solo'd a maddy and it wasn't easy but it's doable. I think if they limit the number of tanks on the field all will be fine, but right now six or seven tanks on one team is crazy.

The other thing I'm seeing is the real tank guys are not fielding tanks because these scrubs can call in militia tanks with the same capability of standard tanks and pop a good tank with no sp investment. ALL tanks and vehicles should have a minimum sp investment of 750k-1mil.

I'll say it again:
I've had no issues destroying tanks with either my prof 4 forge or my operation 3 swarms.
I support tanks and they should play a big role in Dust and their current problems are due to missing content but more so that militia tanks exist in their current form.
Militia gear should not be good at all. Drop rail damage to 900? Blaster to 60? Missiles to 250? Less CPU/PG etc. It should be ran to get the hang of tanking and to find out if it's worth your SP. Until they make it so that's all they're good for you'll have to deal with it.
